Default 93 90 Heater blower

Hi, my blower has recently been making a lot of god-awful noises. It has gone from a high pitched squeal to a low grumbling that is very loud. I'm probably going to have to replace the entire blower motor assembly. Can I do this myself, or should I leave it to a pro? Also, any tips as where to get a cheap one? $100 US seems to be the norm for a replacement. Thanks.

Thanks, I read your DIY on the heater core, but do I have to take the entire dash apart like you did for the heater core, or do I just have to remove the glove box to get to the fan? Thanks again

start with the glove box and if you can get to it from there then good for you ... don't strat with the dash as you might end up doing unecessary work

ye, what he said.
just glove box, then you will have to unplug it (small conector) then remove I think 3 philips screws. thats all. then use flat head screw driver to pry it off (carefully).
entire dash usually comes out for the heater core. and you have 1993 audi 90, that means heater core is coming, or it was already done, or its bypassesd entirelly.

Thaks for all of your help. Hopefully I can do this myself. Nice to know there is a forum where people are willing to lend another guy a hand.

So I got the replacement part, but still have to put it in. I got the old fan out, but am unable to put the new one in. On the original factory blower, there was two screws that held the motor to the housing, and I was able to get the blower out. The replacement part does not allow me to do this as it is all one piece. I cannot get the new blower into position as the duct from the centre dash to the passenger side vent is in the way. Is there any way to disconnect this duct without removing the entire dash? I really don't want to do that. Thanks.
