Hi all - My cousin recently passed and left an Audi Allroad and My aunt wants it out of her garage and is offering me a "great deal". Unfortunately the keys are nowhere to be found. I've read where getting replacements from the dealer is undesirable and very costly.


I was curious if I can replace the whole ignition switch by purchasing one (with key and fob) off Ebay or from a local wrecker. I know that I would have to sync up the key fobs to the car/immobilizer.


My question is - is this plausible? And can a key from another vehicle be programmed to another vehicle?


I know the new key wouldn't fit the door, but I might be able to get the door lock from the same place the ignition switch comes from and replace the current lock.
