Bentley and the owners manual are not in sync, but close enough I suppose. Looking for user feedback on the following, please:

What is the recommended viscosity, blend (syn, etc), and any brand recomendations....as well as expected price to pay per quart, and mileage intervals for changing (10K in the book seems too long).

Also curious if the drain plug REALLY has to be replaced each time, since the seal is a crush washer.

Any recomendations on filters too?

FAQ but i run either castrol syntech 5w40or mobil 1 0w 40 ive tried it all before, except royal purple...im good on that stuff...might try the tranny fluid tho

 

I run Mobil 1 synthetic 5w 30. Same as the original owner. I change about three times a year (I drive 10-12k per year).

Filter...I've been using a Bosch. Not the oversize Passat filter though. Haven't tried that yet. I have enough trouble getting the standard one through the opening.

I haven't heard about replacing the drain plug. I've never done it.

 

i run the ecs magnetic drain plug and its awesome...keeps metal particles and shavings out of circulation in the oil system...i also run the huge passat filter...id say its 2.5 times bigger than oem tt filter. remove your sai pump and your oil changes will be very easy DEjunkie

The Secondary Air Injection basically pumps clean air into the exhaust when the cats are cold, thus "watering down" the exhaust so you pass smog when the cats are cold.

 

Sounds like it needs to go - is there a DIY on it?
