View Full Version : Dislikes with 2009 A4
ltglenn13 09-29-2008, 07:47 PM Well, so far I have put 400 miles on my 2009 2.0T Prestige and there are a few things I don't like,
The auto folding exterior mirrors is absent. This is one of the things I used quite often on my 2002 a4. Narrow garage.
The passenger front seat has power adjustment, but there is no adjustable lumbar support like there is on the driver seat.
The auto wipers do not "reset" or shut off when the vehicle is shut off. Once they are activated, they stay on until you move the lever into the "off" position. This could be a REAL problem if my wife goes to the car wash after forgetting to turn them off. My 2008 BMW x5's auto wipers reset each time you shut off the ignition and must be turned on again when needed to prevent this.
The onboard bluetooth is not fully compatible with most popular LG phones including the Voyager. Acording to the Audi website, the list of compatible LG phones is very short. Every feature works with mine except it will not dial any phone numbers that begin with # or *. This is a problem when trying to unblock my blocked number. If you dial the number from the phone, the car takes over OK, but this sorta defeats the whole purpose of having the bluetooth. I have a Motorola E815 thats about 2 years old and its fully compatible.
Other than these items, the car is incredible. Handles with ease, and the Lane assist works great!
Alexnyc88 10-01-2008, 04:47 PM Just got my 2.0T Premiere Plus! 330 miles so far!
Alexnyc88 10-01-2008, 04:50 PM The ONLY things I dont like are:
No LEDS in the tail lights. Big oversight on Audi's part IMO, i guess they reserved them for the S/RS versions :(.
MMI Ipod interface will not show unicode track names (Such as russian in my case, only shows boxes). Hoping the system can be hacked by loading in European control software (Rented B8 Audi in EU and it was able to display track names in russian without any issues).
mkaresh 10-03-2008, 12:36 PM Fairly short list. I think we can thank the weak dollar for the missing features.
Probably not too much to say yet, as there are not that many cars on the road yet, give it a month or two and the compaints for all things increase, cars, electronics etc...just the nature of the web. It is human nature to hear more negative by far then positive things....too bad, still waiting about another week for my new A4 to arrive...
dbrentb 10-12-2008, 04:52 PM Incredible car had ours for 3 weeks now. Way better than the 06 model. I agree some minor things are missing like the mirror issue but size and driving performance much better. Car was much smoother across th power band and rear seats are now uable. Also like the media center design. Wife loves it much beeter than 06.
StigA 10-12-2008, 04:55 PM The ONLY thing I dont like about the 2009 A4 is that they made AVANT of it cause it looks ugly :P
2009 A4 as sedan look HOT! Avant.. no thanks..
my 2 cents
dbrentb 10-12-2008, 05:03 PM Saw the avant. It looked not as good so I agree. But inside its awesome.
Tonedogg02 10-13-2008, 09:58 AM My only dislike was that fact that my dealer didn't have any iPod cables for the 09 model. The dealer still has no idea when they might get these cables in. All in all its a pretty minor issue that is easily overshadowed by how fun this car is to drive.
Anybody go for the Piano Black inlays? Im beginning to think im the only one!

Ive also got a complaint. 1000 miles and the driver seat leather is sagging already. I weight 13stone and I only put weight on this when I get out of the car.

illiad50 10-13-2008, 11:31 PM 1) handling w/o sports suspension or Drive Select is not as good as my 10yr old A4
2) The new roof rails have no apparent support in the after market after several years on the A3 and Q7.
3) The oversized sunroof with just a translucent curtain is nuts for California (required in the A4 Avant)
4) No M&S tires if you get sports suspension? Nuts for the Sierras.
5) Steering way to soft--no more Audi "goes where you point it" road feel.
If not for these, I'd have already bought a Prem. Plus. Avant. I walked out and started letting the wife look at a Camry Hybrid instead. With these warts, why not at least feel good about the environment?

ray133 10-29-2008, 11:38 PM 1100 miles and the only problem was a nail in my rear tire. I do agree with "Alexnyc" regarding the LED tail lights. So far, It has performed as expected.http://www.audiforums.com/forum/album.php?albumid=308&pictureid=1687

jafza05 11-11-2008, 09:00 AM I have been in my car for a little less than a month now. My only complaint is that I think the side view mirrors are HUGE! I mean, I got use to it and I don't really care anymore but dang, they are like elephant ears.
Also, during my first 1k miles or so, I was getting AWFUL gas mileage. Like 200 miles to a tank, but I suppose this is expected due to break in and what not. I am at about 1300 now (dealer put on 300 to drive it from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh, blah) and am showing about 55 miles to empty with about 265 on my trip odo, so much much better. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Other than that no real complaints. I haven't had a chance to take it out and tear up some back roads yet but handling seems to be pretty good, but I still think Audi has a little more work to do to match the feel of a BMW. Although I have some moments of regret of not saying F-it and spending an extra 7-8k for the 335, its rare and am quite happy with the A4.
bloosqr 11-14-2008, 05:42 PM 200 miles to the tank? yikes.. i noticed i was getting pretty bad gas mileage in the beginning but it was at 300 miles to the tank... now i get 400 miles to the tank (and 460 or so on the freeway). Btw I noticed you get better gas mileage in manual mode than in "D" mode .. the gear changes are set all wrong i think in "D" mode.. at least for how i drive..
