I have a 97 audi a4 1.8t. Has 100200 miles on it. Had EIP Tuning here in MD chip the car and turn the boost up. Npw when the chip was added around 99000 ,miles I swear I coudnt feel ANY more boost power. Then all of the sudden about 1200 miles later the sucker started pulling hard, BUT spiratically. When the car was cold it was pullin hard with the turned up boost, BUT once she warmed up it wouldnt anymore and would feel more stock.

About 2 hrs ago i was driving and heard a metal clank, and then that was all she wrote. I am thinking the stock turbo choked and seized up on me.

can anyone tell me if this is the case, and how much another audi turbo would be, OR should I go aftermarket?

First off how did they "Turn up the boost"? Its not like there is a dial on your turbo.. and second off.. I would be questioning the shop that did the "chip" what kind of chip was it? sounds like it was a bad install.. hopefully its under warranty or something to that effect. But always take it to a second shop for a second opinion if the shop you are dealing with is questionable good luck and give us some more info if you can thanks!

Yeah, at EIP Tuning here in Maryland they run a computer program and use a chip to modify the factory boost from whatever it is to 19psi, ITS crazy! And most guys get atleast 45000 miles on the stock turbo from the day the turn it up. I also have a 350z and this audi was still runnin atleast 3 cars behind, so NOT bad considering my z has about 300 HP.

PS- Ordered another turbo from a salvage yard, out of a 98 vw passat. Apparently the same turbo was used in ALL vx/audi 1.8t engines from 97-2000.

INstalling tomorrow and will let you know hows shes doin.
