ok... so here is my current debate...

i just aquired a 1990 audi.. i mean i drove it a ton.. and had it for a while. . but my dad just "officially" gave it to me.. i am getting the timing belt and water pump replaced, just because we have no idea of when those things were done previously.. i guess it is good to do preventative maintenance every once in a while..

blah.. ok.. right now it has some 15 inch wheels.. i am sure most people know what wheels i am talking about.. and some racing slicks.. for all intents and purposes at least.. the tires aer bald.. so what should i do? get some new tires? or spend twice as much and get some wheels and tires? who has put new wheels on an audi 100.. i am thinking of 17x7s with 205 /50 17 tires... right now it has 205 /60 15s...

i do like those "bbs style" (they might actually be bbs) wheels that came on the audi 200s of that vintage.. but i almost don't have time to mess around finding them.. the tires are pretty close to bald.. i could go a few more months.. but would probably risk a ticket if i found myself in the wrong place at the worng time...

so who has some reccomendations.. anyone have pics of different wheels on an audi 100? i can't say that i have ever seen one on non-stock wheels? i will probably try to get something that is 4 on 108 and 4 on 100 so i can sell them to someone with a corolla or something later when i decide that i can afford a car that doesnt' have way over 200k miles...

thanks

scott

You can't go very wide on 100's without having to modify something. I have 215/60 15 on my stock BBS style rims. P225 probably would not fit. Up front the 215's are very close to the steering linkage and in the back they barely clear the fender. The wheels from 100 and 200 models don't interchange as the 200's use 5 bolts. I have seen pictures of 200 models with 18" wheels and probably 40 or 45 series tires but don't know what if any modifications had to be done. One possibility is to use different offset between the front and back. This will present a problem of its own as it would be impossible to rotate tires especially if you get unidirectional rubber. You would need to remount and rebalance everytime a rotation is needed.

If the car has a 5x112 pattern and a 45 offset, the stock A4 wheels should fit. Anyone else know? Stock A4 wheels are 16x7 as opposed to your 15x6 and should make a noticable difference with a good set of tires. Ah nevermind, I see the 100's have a 4x108 pattern.
