Question 2.8L Exhaust.....?

Hey guys

Well, I have had my car for abuot 6 months and never was really interested in an exhaust for my car until now. Unfortunately, in terms of exhaust, i do have the 2.8L engine so I know theres not much you can do. And that leads to my question...

Where can I find an exhaust for my car? Any Big Name brands make exhausts for the 2.8s or do I have to go custom. Also, what if I were to just purchase a new magnaflow muffler or something similar with twin exhaust tips, could i got that route?

I dont want an over-the-top sound, especially since I dont want to wake the parents when I sneak out sometimes, but Im sick of my stock exhaust tips and want to get something that will look and sound better. So, could I just get an aftermarket muffler and throw it on with the stock downpipe? Im a noob at exhausts so please WRITE OUT unfamiliar words, and pics are always appreciated.....

Thanks again guys

without you I'd be helpless......

first there is no downpipe unless you have a turbocharged car lol. My brother has a 2.8 and he just bought a magnaflow muffler and put it in, you can google like audi and magnaflow muffler theres a bunch of videos and souns clips with the exact model number to order but idk it off the top of my head. It sounds sick and looks nice with dual 3.5 inch tips. Fit up nice too in the bumper cut out. I highly recommend it. There is one company that makes a 2.8l full exhaust but overall i dont think its worth it. Your not gonna get a very noticable power gain with a full exhaust versus just a muffler and a high flow cat in my opinion.

here are a few links:

The Muffler you need-magnaflow 14816

Revving sound clip i found.

Take off sound i found.

The muffler is not loud but distinct. Its not annoying it just sounds nice and clean. I am positive it you will be satisfied and it is not very expensive. Good luck. Also magnaflow is outstanding with quality. It will take a week or two for the muffler to break in and really let the sound out so dont be discouraged cause it is quiet at first.

oh and miltek makes the full exhaust but it will cost you 1000 big ones. Not worth it to me.

i have a custom exhaust on my car put on from a local shop and it only cost be about $400. i had them put new piping in straight back from the cats and a magnaflow 14815 muffler. i had that system with no resonator for a couple of days and it was way too loud. i went back and had them put in an aftermarket resonator and it sounds wonderful. ill highly recommend it

let us know what you end up doing

also, do these mufflers come with resonators in them? Again, I am a huge exhaust noob and have never worked on them. How easy is the muffler install?

the sequence of the exhaust system goes cat, some piping, resonator, some more piping, and then the muffler which is the end of the exhaust obviously.

i have the magnaflow 14816 installed with an aftermarket resonator and i am very satisfied with the final product.
