18x8 R8 replica rims opinion
hey guys. i want to get some opinions on new rims. i was looking at these audi R8 replica rims i found on ebay. tire and rim combo for $950. i have a 2001 a4 1.8 and i was wondering if you think these would look good without lowering my car? my car is pretty much stock now, so this is one of the first major "mods" im doing. also, how do i go about lowering my car, if need be? thanks!

I'm not into the look of the R8 reps on B5's...
definitely lower your car before you put new wheels/tires on it....
the best way to go is coilovers...stasis street sports/h&r are both great coilover setups...
if you are looking to save cash you can run shocks and springs...I am running bilstein/neuspeed race...the best price I found was from mjmautohaus.com...

FAT FIVES, IMHO
definitely lower you car before you put wheels on it.......with the $950 you have it shouldn't be an issue.
coilovers are pricy but get the job done nicely and you have the benefit getting the lowering amount just right.
The more moderate way would be lowering springs and struts (H&R's and Bilsteins, Eibach's and Bilsteins, Eibach's and Koni's, etc.)
Do some internet searching and you can find a ton of opinions on who feels they have the right set-up....it's trial and error maybe you will like what someone else doesn't who know til you try it. The benefit is if your set-up doesn't feel right, you can sell it and try again and again and again.
Go with the R8's if you like them, it's your car dude.
good luck and post up pics when you get 'em
love the sig kriptonik, laughed for 15 minutes, kid you not

When I first read it, I was thinking "hey, it's a great idea" then a second later, I was like "don't we have something like that".
i know, i really like them. the pic that kriptonic posted is really awesome. the rims look so badass on that B5. it makes me want to get these so bad. do you think i will have any problems with rubbing or scraping with these 18x8's??
yea dude i was in the same boat u are now, contemplating on getting the R8's or not...
but yea i agree, u need a bad *** brake system with huge calipers and rotors in order for it to look right....
the pic poster above looks decent but IMO the rotors need to be bigger...

no rubbing issues with 18x8s, you don't need big *** calipers for it, the wheels will look awesome without them, why spend $2000+ on big brakes to make it "look right"
what colour is your car? and is it the sport package? to check see if you have red shocks.
