Default Help, how to remove harmonic balancer

Hey,

Im trying to perform a timing belt job on a 2002 1.8t. How do you take off the harmonic balancer? I took off the four bolts, but the balancer wont fall off of the large center bolt. On my friends 2000 A4 the balancer was steel and it just fell off. but this balancer is aluminum and it wont come off.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm with Shane on that one. But if you do have to remove it for some reason, I would try using a large gear puller; that's when I used when I replaced the harmonic balancer on my brothers Camaro.

I meant that doesn't have to be removed, didn't mean to say replaced.
