Default Why is an Audi battery so $$$$$

Hi

I just had to replace my battery 2005 A4 (3.0 vert quattro) and l couldn't believe how pricey it is.

What kind of battery is it or should l have just replaced it with a Sear's??

Thanks

Yeah the dealer charged me around 300 to replace my battery. They told me i had to have them do it because the keys and stereo would have to be reprogrammed. I was pretty upset when I found out that that wasn't true.

I would be having a talk with the manager about deceptive practices and the better business bureau. Any shop can prevent that.

The battery is in the window cowl. (right under the wiper blades). It takes about 5 minutes to replace it. The reason they charge that much is because dealers charge a minimum of 1 hour labor.

Audi's are cars made with common parts... Dealers are not needed.

Even $90 is on the expensive side IMHO. Haven't paid more than $45-50 for a car battery in 20 years. To be fair I have yet to replace the one in the Audi, but if its just a plain ol car battery then any will do.

$90 gets you the higher cranking amps and longer warranty... good things in the Cold North.
