Default Need help ASAP! Custom exhaust reccomendation..

Hello there members. My best friend is having his birthday in 6 days and I want to get him a custom exhaust for his birthday. He has a '06 B7 FWD 2.0T a4 and has been talking about getting an exhaust lately. I am limited to only about $200 so a custom exhaust is the way to go I believe.
I want to buy 1 borla universal ($80) OEM size muffler (2.0" or 2.25" ???) and replace the other OEM mufflers (2 or 3 , I forgot) with it. I am sure he will gain a little bit of hp since he has less restriction and I dont know why this 4 cylinder car has more than 1 muffler to begin with. The extra mufflers will have regular piping in its place . I also want to cut off the resonator. I will leave the Cat untouched so he can still pass emissions and wont have nasty fumes outside his car. The install will take care of the remainding funds.

I am worried that he might have a C.E.L. or that this has been tried and there have been bad outcomes.
Any and all suggestions would be really appreciated.

So you are going to convert his two mufflers into one? $200 bucks is a wee bit low to spend on a custom exhaust. I doubt he'll be totally happy with it.

single muffler is the only way to gain a substantial amount of hp compared to Dual- since its a 4 cyl. engine.
What would you change about the setup and why wouldnt he be happy with it?
The main thing he is concerned about is sweet sound and I want it to be clean yet noticeable.

So you are gonna just leave the one old muffler hanging there? Why do you say that a single muffler is the only way to gain substantial HP? That setup may be a little loud/ricer side with the resonator removed.

I wont leave the old muffler hanging there. I wil replace the 2 or 3 stock mufflers with one Borla muffler.

It has been proven on all 4 cylinder engines that having 1 mufler as opposed to 2 or 3 will net more gains.

Has anybody on these forums with a b7 a4 removed their resonator to see how it sounds?

if your going to remove the resonator at least put a 4inch round muffler in its place. If not, you wont be getting the sweet sound that your looking for.

so you are gonna have to exhaust cutouts, but with only one muffler? That is gonna look goofy as hell honestly. The B7 is so new that there really aren't too many companies that have exhaust systems ready.

Jest means that, on the B7 A4 there is two exhaust cutouts, and you are gonna have only one muffler.

you see there is only one tip coming out, but there is two cutouts.

that shud clarify things.

*NOTE* I did this with photoshop, i know i suck.
