I have a 96 a4 2.8, and theres quite a problem. whenever i turn my AC on, engine makes a LOUD *** sound and the car does'nt go *** fast in the beginning. It feels like im dragging like 1000lbs weight back of my trunk. Is their any solution to this?? is it just my car???[:@]

Thats normal... I think.

I never turn on the AC because of that. I used to have a VR6 Passat and that was one of my concerns. I would lose so much power and the car would sound like a vacuum.

When the ac is on you lose 5 to 10 % of hp, it shouldnt feel like your towing a 1000 pds. Is the loud noise your hearing just the fan, can you be more specific about what its sounds like?

you need to have your ac recharged the reason its draining so much is because its trying to blow cold air on a low charge

In fact, they make electric fan kits you can install that avoid the a/c drain to the engine. Check out this link [URL=http://audiworld tech forum - electric fan] for some information. I've seen at least one or two kits on the Internet.
