** I DID USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION**

I will be installing an amp/sub into my '96 A4Quattro. I have the maintenace manual and I keep reading that the possibilities of disconnecting your battery. Can someone indeed tell me that yes or no, I will be screwed if i disconnect my batter? I do not have a owners manual with a code nor have I located a code. What are the chances of it affecting the computer settings? Please let me know. Thanks.

If you disconnect the battery, you will need the radio code in order to get it to work when you hook it back up. If you don't have the code, you will need to go to the stealership and have them give it to you or generate a new one. It can cost up to 130 bucks which is what it cost me.

Why they have that setting with the radio, I have no idea? Who is going to steal a stock radio?? Anyway, in a way you will be screwed if you don't have the code.

You could always buy a 2002+ A4, which have battery backup's for the Radio. I have not had to enter mine yet, and I've taken the battery leads off multiple times...

Althought this is a very expensive solution to your problem! ;)

You don't really HAVE to disconnect the battery. Just pull the inline fuse out of your power wire when you install it. No biggy.

fuck it just leave it all together like he said but never run a power wire without taking the fuse out seen what that can do before just be safe and if you need to disconnect hit me up i will sell you my radio with code for 60 bucks
