Default Instrument Cluster

I have an Instrument Cluster problem with my TT and the dealership wants $800 to repair. I understand there was a recall in Europe on these parts due to a faulty chip manufactured by an Italian Company and that all Europe owners of TT's were getting their clusters repaired at no cost.
Does anyone know anything about this? I can not find a direct email address to write Germany or UK, does anyone know how to find?
The American Audi Co. will not admit or confirm this faulty part and wants $800 for this chip in order for the gas guage to work. I have run out of gas twice because of this.

yea, i've seen this problem on B5 a4's as well...

you might try finding one from a newer year at an audi dismantler and putting it in yourself if you're comfortable with that, its really just a big puzzle.

just a thought and my .o2

they're kinda VIN specific, you need to match the model number of the cluster I think, if the new cluster doesn't have the same number, it won't work in the car.

I know a guy that can get you the cluster and install it for you!! Email me... Jeremy@conceptdub.com and I'll send you his information. The cluster has to be put in with special software...so please don't try to do it yourself..

What does he charge for the cluster? Does he need the part number off the part or the manufactures part number?

I'm not 100% about the cluster installation, but ....I think you have to have the SKC#...which only the dealer can obtain..or you can with a specific hardware...

I'm not 100% sure on this...but I'm pretty sure you need more than just the Vag-Com...and I also think it depends on the Year/Make of the car as well!!

Yea...if you have immobilzer III for your car then you have to have the SKC#, but the dealer shipdoesn't give them out anymore..if it's Immobilizer II then you can use just the VAG

Hi I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but I was googling this problem and I ran across this link:

http://www.bba-reman.com/content.asp...hboard_failing

It appears that they can repair the dashboard problem that a lot of us seem to be experiencing. My car just started doing it, the dashboard completely flakes out now, but luckily I live close to them (in MA), so I'm going to call them and take a ride down to see what they can do (and for how much??) before I even think of going to the dealership(s) (which are just crap near me). Please if anyone has had experience with this vendor let me know, and if I can get it fixed on the cheap I'll post a response to let everyone know how it went.
