Default Fuel Filter Replacement $$$$$$$$$!

Hey,

I just finish calling around shops to replace the Fuel Filter, can you believe the want $450.00, just to replace that thing. I really didn't want to tackle this thing myself, but it looks like I'm stuck. Anyway if anyone knows anybody in the Pittsburgh area who won't mind helping or assisting me with changing my fuel filter, for a reasonable price, just let me know. Thanks

there are three different fuel filter setups.is yours quattro or front-trac.i took my filter to a shop and they put in for $45.even with most difficult setup should take no more than 2 hours for non experienced mech.mine is front trac so it was easier.you should really have a repair manual, even if you are not going to do work yourself

Where did you get this information?? Not saying its wrong, but i had no idea there was a difference for quattro vs front-trac for the filter other than slight differences in fuel tank design/location.
Are you saying the setup is different for
1. Avant
2. Sedan front trac
3. sedan quattro??

Do you know if the filters are the same part #'s for the B5?
Are they not all located in the same general location on all models?
Exaclty how is the setup different for all 3?????

fuel filter is exterior near the fuel tank under the car of course, and I don't like 20" wheels because I don't have them

Well according to what the shops told me, it is the labor involved with replacing a fuel filter on the quattro, since it is positioned in a weird area. The guy said the computer is coming up with 5-6 hours of labor.
