I just bought my wife an 01 allroad and I want the details-what is this car similar too? some one told me it has the same engine as the S8? that sounds wrong. Any performance mods that are easy and have big gains? thanks, I hope to enjoy the site and all the info I can get from it.

If I'm not mistaken, the 2001 Allroad came with the 2.7L twin turbo V6; the same engine as the S4 of the same year. The engine is the same - not the rest of the car!
There are a lot of gains to be found with such an engine. Chipping the 2.7 is the most common modification. Search the archives on this and other mods. There is a huge amount of info on the 2.7 engine, chipping, and other related mods. Be aware that the engine is a highly tuned performance engine - take good care of it! It is very expensive to repair, so learn all that you can about its inherent qualities and needs for care and maintenance. I'd browse the S Cars forum for expert help on the subject (of engine). There are a lot of B5 S4 owners here (myself included) that would be glad to pass on to you any tips and advice.

First things first:
If it hasn't been changed to synthetic oil, do it now and change it regularly. Also, let the engine oil cool down, after spirited runs, before you turn off the ignition - two minutes is usually sufficient.

I do not own one, but work on them daily. There are some mods out there. Stock the allroad is a sweet ride. What dose she want to do with the car? And would she mind to lose a little ride, to get a little better cornering. I love it when they get chiped, wheels, and exhaust. then they really move, and look good. The allroad dose come with 4.2 as a option. I have seen them. and they sound almost like the new S4. and they are nuts. Dose your car say 4.2 or 2.7T on the back of it. And what is the color combo. seat color dose it have. just wondering. I hope it is not green on green. i hate that one. LOL ;)

depends. at the dealer im at, if the chip is not cousing anything to break, then its not a problem. but if it dose make somthing stop working then the customer has to pay for it.
