Folks, I have just bought an S4 7 months old and I collect it on Saturday.

The dealer tells me its unrestricted and is not limited to 155mph.

Question is how could I tell from looking at the engine?

dont think you can tell just by looking at the engine.. youd have to run a VAG on it.. But i could be wrong..i think its just limited in teh chip. (or unlimited)

 

Does it really matter that much? I've gotten my car up to 165 mph at which point i feel the gas cut off even though it says it's limited to 155, but to get that fast you need a ton of open highway space. Also even if it was unlimited it'd probably top at like 170 mph anyway, but it'd take like 10-15 seconds for that last 5 mph.

 

I had mine up to 150mph comfortably. I felt like it had alot left but at this point unless I am on a track I am not going to find out. These cars have very long legs.

 

As of yet i have been unable to test my cars limits... i will say though..it does pull harder at about 130 than it was at 105..haha.

 

i have about a 20 mile run of unrestricted autobahn by me and found that the b7 (so probably b6 as well) has power all the way to limit which came out to 165 and then it just sits there. i only do it once in a while, because i can, but the only difference between this car and most others around germany is that it makes it to 165 quicker. but, i have had touregs, 735s, a3s and even some peugot catch up to me when i'm cruising 140 to 150 mph range. i find hitting the winding roads in the eiffel mountains to be more exhilarating.
