Default 1998 1.8t with 116k should i mod?

hey guys i recently got a 98 1.8t quattro it has 116k though. It had the timing belt, the water pump and suspension work all done by the dealer before i picked it up on my request. Aside from the milage its in mint condition and drives awesome. I am looking to do some mods but i wondered if it would be a bad idea considering the high milage. I dont plan on beating the **** out of it or anything but i would like a little more power. i am looking into a GIAC chip, cat back exhaust and a K&N. Im not set on the chip if it would be harmfull to my car, but i think that exhaust and intake could only help me out. Thanks for your help im new to all of this audi tuning.

[ul][*] would a chip really be bad for my engine life?[*] [*]
