I bought my 2001 tq approximately 2 months ago with 50,000 miles, and just recently i started to hear the turbo spool. It started to make that whistling noise. Bad? Good? Why all of a sudden? explanations pleasE!!

Any blueish smoke? and rattleing? (it would sound like bb's in a tin can) Any loss of power?

No loss of anything. My friend with the 99 tq is going through the same thing. We dont nkow if its bad. It doesnt sound liek rattling. I know its the turbo spooling, i can feel it, i just dont know why all of a sudden. Its like alittle whistle. that i can hear if no music is on

yeah i've heard of them becoming louder or whistling when it's cold.

Try to pressure test your car, it might be a leak. Do you have a boost gauge, if so how much boost? Its not that hard i just did it and found 2 leaks.

Yea, it is the cold weather, i guess it makes your turbo work more efficiently....one guy i met that owns a tt supra has the same thing

Good to hear, would hate for you to have to replace your current turbo with a k04.
