Default no power and a noise

Hi,

My car has a problem, it has lost power and finds it hard to go over 4500 rpm, and also makes a hssssssssing noise when accelarating, almost like there is a boost leak. i have checked all the hoses and found nothing.

if you can't find a boost leak anywhere all the hoses are fine and there is a hsssssing sound I would say you turbo's on the way out

Check for leak/cracked hose or shot DV.

NO if the turbo was going you would hear a chatter. it sounds like a tin can full of BB's. you would see a blueish white smoke coming from the tailpipe. and it would get terribly hot even if you just went to the local convience store. Do you have a boost gauge?

No i dont have a boost gauge, its just a standard 150 bhp turbo engine (uk spec), it sounds just like a boost leak, i will get a mechanic to check it out,

Also a audi dealer told me these turbo engines dont have a Air Flow Meter?

if all your hoses are fine Id say its your DV. thatd be a good place to start as its pretty cheap and easy to do yourself

Hi guys,

just to let you know, i got my car sorted. It was something caught in the exhaust, it flew out the back when going along, i think its possibly part of the cat. if thats the case i think i will remove it for now and replace it at my next m.o.t.

Drives better than before now!

Cheers mike
