so im getting a new a3 this weekend and was worndering if anyone has a 2007 without out that stupid open sky system cause im trying to keep it under 31 grand because every dealership i go to all the a3's have the open sky system but i want the sport with sound package and thats it so if any one could recommend a dealership in LA area that might have what i want that would be great

 

sorry......... the open sky is a big seller for the A3, that's why most A3's have them off the lot.......i don't see anything stupid about it!!!! since you're getting an A3 this weekend, maybe you show up at our gtg on the 24th in Irvine....... here's the link.......

Careful about that question. You're more than likely to get flamed just asking that. Do a search and you'll find all kinds of posts where we discuss chipping. Also, go to the stickies at the top of the A4 forum and there is a great reference to different chips.

Just to reiterate what Nam said, the Open Sky system IS one of the reason that I bought this car. The only drawback is that it adds a few extra pounds. Otherwise, I wouldn't purchase this car without it. If you plan on living in the LA area for a while then I think you can agree.

Yeah, got Lava Grey Sline DSG with tech and audio package and best of all NO OPEN SKY. It's useless in this hellish Texas weather since we only get like three months out of the year that it's not BEASTLY hot. Have sunroofs on our TL and Maxima and NEVER, like maybe a couple times a year use the! AND on top of that, the A3 open sky is a major pain because you can't pull a COMPLETE cover to block out the sun, just that useless mesh slide that everyone complains about breaking, squeaking, etc.

SO, long story short, had to order mine Aug. 4th and I'm guessing it will be in around Oct. 12th or something. Got him down to 31, 077 plus a $495 audi charge. Just had Hartmann RS4 B7 18x8 with Mich PS PS2s delivered yesterday, so I obviously can't wait for the my car to get here so I can start tearing around and then posting about jerky transmission, leaks, broken A/C, etc. etc....

Just kidding, but I AM impatiently waiting while reading about these gripes some folks have with their A3....

 

i was worried about the same thing before i decided to buy mine but u gotta remember, only the ppl that do have things go wrong post up about it. if u want some positive feedback, go check out the 100+ reviews on edmunds by a3 drivers, there's a reason it got a 9 point something rating

 

I love mine and no problems. Just wished that the tires gripped a little better, but that's probably my vault with mods.

Right, I have looked quite a bit on Edmunds and it's full of rave reviews AND complaints about transmission, Open Sky, etc....

 

Just to chime in on the open sky view, I complained alot about it two weeks ago after i got the car cause here in MIAMI it gets hot like Texas hot. Anyway went to home depot bought a roll of window treatment black out, thin white roll cut it to size and laid it on top of the mesh, works perfect all the sun is now blocked out. Love the car, hey can i call this a modification, hahaha
