Just got home from the performance shop..take a look
Got some pricing on a few upgrades I want to do. The guy I talked to was very knowledgeable, but seemed to be a little pushy at times....but only a little. I would not have any problem bringing my car there to have work done. He quoted me $1071.00 for APR Stage 1 chip with stock and safe modes. Evolution DV and an N75. That price included all labor. I later asked him how much it would be for a Miltek cat-back system and he said $1295 and that included labor. What do you guys think....do these prices seem reasonable coming from a local shop? He is the only one like it within 80 or so miles.
The price for the chip and dv is way to high. The chip alone is only 399$ and the dv is prolly like around a 100-150$. So hes charging you for chip labor and dv install which takes 5 min to do your self and chip install that takes 30 min. Way to high i think.
chip could be 499 for DBW, plus he wanted to keep stock program. i think it is another 150 for the stock program. My place charged 35 dollars to solder in the APR chip, even tightened up a few other loose things, and greatly reduced the vibration from my previously installed snub mount. Most shops charge 20-25 dollars to install the DV.
The chip was 499 not 399....it even says that on APR's site. It was 150 for the stock program and then an additional amount (I forgot the number) for the safe mode. N75 was 75 dollars I think.......and the dv was a buck somthin, then you have labor. Im pretty sure he said 40 for the install the DV. What pissed me off is hes charging for the software install into my ECU even if it is just a plug in. If it were a soder-in then I could understand. I cant get a second opinion becuase there is not anyone else around here that deals with APR or GIAC or with Audis for that matter.
The APR chip is solder in, not drop in. Still it only took 10-15 minutes to download the program and solder in the chip. Charge was 35 dollars to remove and install ECU and solder in the chip.
