Someone in town got a Chevy Cobalt SS SuperCharged. Same color at my TT
He's been giving me dirty looks every time i pass him on the 4 lane going the other direction. Guessing sooner or later i'll end up at the same light going the same direction.

Anyone raced one of these?

There 205HP 200ft tq
FWD 2991 dry weight

when i raced one, it was a joke. I had him by a couple bus lengths by 70mph. But I have never raced any tt's, modded or stock. Just run him and see, you got nothing to lose.....just be careful if you do it on the street.

i pull on them with basic bolt ons

once they get a smaller pulley it is a driver's race

my best friends older brother has a Cobalt SS and he will smoke me. He claims its stock, but I dont believe him because how many Cobalts do you know that can do burnouts almost into 3rd gear?

If his cobalt is the SS supercharged it will burn through 3rd.
Week ago i went and test drove one. dealer was dumb enough to let me take it on my own.
Man that poor car. I pounded that living piss out of it.
But i will say that SS SC is pretty fast for it's class of car I was able to spin into 4th gear.
Chevy did an awesome job on that car.
in a couple years i plan on picking one up for a tuner car to replace the Eclipse.

I have ran two one had to use spray to pull on me when i shifted into third, the other pulled on me by a half a car and all he had was a cold air intake mind you I have a 02 225 TT quattro roadster. But now with my GIAC the game is on!!!

i raced a ss on my way down home on the interstate. 2 retarded ass little fags thinkin they were hot sh1t. race after race after race i just kept raping him. it was like he was handing me a 10" wide piece of iron and just telling me to rip him a new one. seriously the closest he ever came was when i didn't even bother to downshift at 3k rpm. and it was far from close.

Hey chaos, sry about not getting back to you. My buddy who helped me said his welder is broken right now, but as soon as he gets it fixed I will let you know about the piping. If you end up coming to Jacksonville for any reason hit me up and we can meet up.

lol such a random place to post that. its all good tho. as soon as he gets it fixed just let me know and i'll make a trip over there. im going back home for thanksgiving so i'll be working and getting more money. with that money im gona buy the core and put away some money for the piping. if he's got it fixed by the time im heading back up to tally than that would be a perfect time to do it.

the cobalt ss's are pretty quick, i have 2 buddies who have them, ones a stage 4 and the others a stage 2. They both run mid to low 13s in the quarter. but they cant hang with me ;)

I haven't tangled w/ a Cobalt SS/SC but I did drive one at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, Michigan that may cause some trouble. It's apparently a one of a kind custom job that they had bumped to 280 horse with 250 tq. They put the Berger "Prescribed Power" emblems and all on it. Sort of like the Classic Camaro's they used to do.

The sales guy was cool and did a great Chris Farley impression. We were able to take it out. He even let me get on it a little. I would have prefered if he hadn't gone but I'm sure he know's what I would of done if he wasn't there. It's a fast, fun ride.

def. not....road and track has the ss supercharge cobalt at 205 hp and 0-60 in 6.2 HIGHLY doubt it is doing quarter miles in the 13's

I have no respect for Cobalt's, there are so slow and shitty looking from the factory. That and the huge unnecessary spoiler doesn't tickle my fancy.

Not every cobalt ss is supercharged, I believe a supercharged cobalt would beat your audi. They do low 14's stock. I drove them at the chevy rev it up event and wasnt super impressed... but with just a K&n drop in panel one of them put 217 to the wheels. Like the srt-4 they are under rated.

I raced one the other night. He had an intake, chip, smaller pulley, and exhaust. He hung w/ me pretty well both times from a 30ish roll. I don't know about stock ones, haven't ran one. I would however, think a well-driven SS Supercharged should be able to take a TT.

I don't think a Cobalt SS has a chance against a TT.

stock they are extremely slow. A few easy mods can pep them up quite a bit though

Super charged Cavalier. No differen't than slapping boost on a 2.4 eco tech motor in a GM vehicle. Stock they are a joke, had a friend in a grand prix, whom i was riding with, rape one from a 60 roll, a few cars before 100mph. They have nice get up, but it doesn't seem like that power band is going anywhere, almost like it's flat.

Motor Trend:

Cobalt SS= 14.4
TT 225 Quatro Roadster= 14.7

Slow is a relative term but some of you guys are sh*tting on them like they are nothing. How many of you same people would say a new Civic Si is fast? Suprise suprise, the Colbalt SS will take out the Si everytime.

Well-driven Cobalt SS/sc's are capable of low 14's, just like Saturn Ion Redline's........

I didn't realize they had a 2.4 non s/c SS. That must be the one I was refering to. I thought all the SS's came s/c, but apperantly the S/C ones are the 2.0 with the rice kit?

The SI's are fast, the new ones, being the 2.0 litre 4 bangers than they are.

Only the 2-door Cobalt SS's are available in the sc package. You can tell the difference between sc'd and non-sc'd SS's by the taller rear wing and lower front bumper valance on the Supercharged cars.

And yeah, the new Si's are decently quick.....

just because they arent fast from the factory doesnt mean they cant be fun! i think seeing the decent gains made from minor mods would be fun as an owner. especially with a factory supercharged car. youll be "fast" before you know it!

at least GM is giving the consumers a car thats somewhat meant to be a sports car, instead of making the consumer take a "family" car thats not intended to be performance modified. basically, they're trying! i can respect that.

also, think of it this way. its basically a cavalier, right? but think back a few years ago when gm was producing the lt1 camaros/firebirds. the new cobalts are almost as fast as those cars! and those were GMs premier sports cars! (except the vette) so GM has taken some big steps lately. theres alot of cars from them that theyve produced lately that i would watch out for. ie the monte carlos, impalas and grand prix's with the 303 hp v8. there are LOTS of lsx based performance parts out there. a little bit goes a long ways with those motors.

The LT1 F-bodies were '93-'97. That's 10-14 years ago. More than a few. And the mag times for them ranged from 14.4 to 13.8 making them atad faster than the Cobalt SS.

I just want you people who sh*t on the Cobalt SS to ask yourselves a question and be completely honest. If there were a Civic Si-R, a VW Rabbit GTI, a Scion TC-S, or whatever that had the same supercharger, the same power, and the same acceleration as the Cobalt SS, would you still sh*t on it, or would you defend it for being fast for it's class or fast for it's price?

thank you for reiterating exactly what i just said, although i dont know why you did, what you said is pretty much the exact same as what i said.

true 10-14 is more than a "few" but you knew what i meant.

Simply to point out that LT-1 are 10-14 years older and that's more than a few. That's a LONG time in the automotive world. The same difference between a '69 and an '83. Just because I responded to your comment doesn't mean I am completely disagreeing with you.

aight no worries

either way i still see lt1 cars on the streets all over the place and they are still alive and doing well when people are looking for a car to soup up. i think its a fair enough comparison
