Okay, I have been looking for a 2000-2001 A6 4.2 in my area (Mass.) with the Sport package for three months now with no luck. The only cars that I've been able find in my area either have very high miles or do not have the sport package. I have searched Autotrader, yahoo cars, Autoguide.com, MSN, Carfinder.com, Vehix, Cars.com, audi.com, and Craigslist. Are there other sites that I should be searching??

My ideal car would be:

Car:
2000-2001 A6 4.2 with Sport Package + electronic stability control (this was standard on 2001 but an option for 2000)

Colors: Blue, Black, Silver

Miles: Under 70K

Price range: $17,000 max.

No mods (except for RS6 type cosmetic upgrades)

PLEASE HELP!!!

 

I don't think you're going to find much help here. Suggest you widen your search radius. To get the car you want, you may have to travel a bit -- 4.2s are quite a bit more rare than other models so you may need to travel to get what you want.

check out avon auto brokers (exit 18 Harrison blvd off of rte 24) but be careful and make sure you test drive the car very well, I bought my A6 there a month ago and the just finally fixed my ABS unit after three trips in and probably a grand total of 10 days in the shop (and they refuse to replace the squeaky control arm bushings). but I got a hell of a deal on the car and they always have about 5-6 audis (they seem to only stock benz, bmw, saab and audi with the occasional hummer, vette and porsche)

 

Ebay is a great resource. CLick on AUDI A6 then type 4.2 and you will pull 20 or so around the states. Like he said, travel may be unavoidable.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. Ozz, I'm quite sure that I saw the A6 4.2 that you purchased. Did the car have aroud 50K miles? I believe that the asking price was around 16k. I am kicking myself now for not buying it. DAMN IT!!!

Well it looks like I will be doing some traveling to get the car that I want. But if any you guys come across a car that meets my criteria, please drop me a line.

You could get a non-sport and with the savings install aftermarket springs/shocks.

 

You are right, probably we are talking about the same car... Sorry mate, will let you know if I find something decent.

 

If your still looking for one im right outside Chicago. I have an 01 4.2 w/ sport/cold weather package in ming blue w/ tan leather, every option except for navi. The car is in great condition with less then 47k miles. Im looking to get about 17k....email me if your interested.

Try Ebay and just make sure the person has good feedback. A lot of dealers use Ebay too and sometimes don't post the car on their local website. Cars.com is a good resource as well. Good luck. They are great cars, so travel shouldn't be an issue.
