So here is my situation, I would like to be able to listen to my iPod and Sirius without FM modulation. I started looking at AUX in adapters & iPod adapters and came to a quick realization. by the time i had both of those installed i would have already reached the price of a fairly decent head unit that already does everything i want out of the box. Now we come to my problem. I have a 2001 A6 2.8 with the Bose stereo, I've read some posts on here that say if i try to hook up an after market head unit to these speakers then I'm going to end up with poor sound quality. When it comes to car audio I am fairly inexperienced so I'm asking for recomendations and help on this one. Oh and and this would be getting professionally installed.

Assuming I would have to replace the factory speakers could someone give me Some brands that would be comparable in sound quality to the Bose speakers that i currently have in.

If you know of a place i can get information on the 2001 Bose specs please let me know. Specifically do the speakers have amps in them, if they don't where is the factory amp located.

if you repkaced the head unit the problem wouldn1t be poor sound quaility, it would be your deck heating up and shuting off because those bose speakers are a 2ohm speaker while any aftermarket speaker is going to be a 4ohm speaker. so yes replaceing the stock speakers would be the best thing, if your replacing the headunit. if you want my opinion, i love JL Audio, components and coaxials, i love em all. if you get a chance check out a store that sells em. I install and sell em every day and i have yet to hear something comprable at the price they are at.
