I have a 2002 a4 1.8t with 56,500 miles on it currently. I live in Mpls. and drive about 10,000 miles a year. I continually see post about having the timing belt/tensioner, etc. replaced prior to the 105,000 recommended service. My question is, would 70,000 miles be appropriate to have this work done? Aside from this, who has had this work done and can recommend a mechanic that will give me a fair price. I'm guessing it's going to cost me in the range of $800 but would like to hear other people's experiences.

Cheers!
