I had a question about cats as well. I've got a 2.8 30V and was wondering if any certain brand had to be used, and certain style, or if I could just go get some cheap universals when I have my exhaust made

your cat is the most restrictive piece of your exhuast, any type of highflow cat will be a good addition to your exhaust and since it is still a CAT whereas a test pipe isn't you can still pass emissions. As I was told by the audi v-dub speacialist at Evolution motorsports. "If you want the sounds get a cat-back exhaust. If you want some performance get a high flow cat, and if you want both sound and performance then get both." Make is not gonna make a difference. Exhaust is really not that complicated, its just a metal tube. Its the muffler that is the most complicated part and thats not even that complicated. Thats why lots of people just go with custom exhausts where some guy in a muffler shop just bends some pipe and slaps it on your car. Not rocket science!

Is he asking about a universal cat or muffler. To me it sounds like he's asking about the cat which would make a difference since cheap can be more restrictive.
