I have driven one. They are like big S4's which can plow through everything. Mine was fortunate enough to be chipped so I had fun scaring porsche's.

Well considering a tip boxster(old body style which is a piece of shit) runs 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and an 04 Allroad 6 speed is 6.6 according to GPS and A G-Tech. So... adding 1.2 bar of boost and a full back exhaust & intake nets you 340 hp and 0-60 in well under 6 seconds. (didnt have the G-Tech) She'll also run the quarter in 13.74@101.1. Significantly faster then a stock boxster tip, which i am presuming you are talking about. Now a boxster S 6 speed, thats a slightly better race. But were talking generally... arnt we Mr. know it all.

I own one and love it, would not buy the car with an auto...heard the gearing is not ideal, and they suck up the fuel.
Also interested in chipping out my allroad. A few questions though: can it affect the manf. warranty? What type of Hp increase are we talking about?
Any input is appreciated.

Yes it will void your warrently(most likely). Dealers can detect the chip but some are chip friendly and will work on your car w/ the warrenty to a certain extent. I woudlnt really recommend it unless your really willing to use it. What I mean is, do you track/autocross/race your audi or meet up with audi clubs? If not then dont do the chip. The chip will kill your turbo's literally. Within the next 10-20k miles you'll blow your turbo's out and cats from the high boost inscrease from the chip. If your really want the extra power go to AWE TUNING . COM and get the KO4 turbo kit. The allroad has the same ROCK SOLID engine as the RS4 and what the K04 kit is RS4 turbos and intercooler etc. Its a ROCK SOLID kit and an amazing package. It literally turns your engind into the stock 400 hp RS4 engine for 4,000 plus install. Its 4 times the chip but 90 more hp and alot more engine life when compared to GIAC, APR and REVO etc. chips.
Chipped allroads/s4's net anywhere from 300 to 360 hp and they last about 10-20 k b4 the turbos go
K04 allroads or RS4 turbo'd allroads net from 380 to 520 hp and last as long as a base engine depending on your set up.
Also auto allroads can be set up with the K04 kit with proper auto tranny software.

Sadly EVERY Allroad with a 6-Speed that I've seen for sale was AT LEAST $3,000 more than the tiptronic model I just brought home today :( but, I did bring home an A6 2.7T 6-Speed last night so I guess I'll be allright ;)

I've had my 2001 6 speed for about 3 weeks now. I was not in the market for a car yet, but that didn't keep me from window shopping on the internet. When I spotted this one at a local dealer, I couldn't pass it up. Luckily, my wife fell in love with it, and was willing to let me have my way so she could have the (87) bimmer.
Here in the Vancouver area (Canada), it is nearly possible to find a BMW 5 series touring or Audi Allroad (my two choices) in a standard transmission. The one I bought was at least $4000 cheaper than it should have been, since the dealer was trying to unload it, everyone wanted tiptronics. (Hey I would have paid a premium, but would not have been lured in so early either)
I love the car. I find first gear a bit low, I've hit the rpm limiter a couple of times already. However, the trick is to shift quickly out of first. 2nd, 3rd 4rth are unbelievable. And having your foot directly connected to a car with such a flat and strong torque curve, without any slushing about by the tranny is phenomenal (admittedly, this comment is related to a normal automatic slushbox, I haven't really spent any time in a tip) I know I am going to get a ticket, squirting around the left lane hogs here!
