I've been lurking on these forums for the past few days and finally decided to register and hopefully get some questions answered on the 2000-01 model S4. Anyways, I should be selling the Lincoln LS here anytime now and purchasing a 00-01 S4 with that money, can hardly wait! I'm a pretty big car audio enthusiast so I wanted to know if the back seats can be folded down to allow direct entry to the trunk area. What's the dimensions to the trunk look like? I'm debating on putting 2 12s or 1 18 back there and then upgrading the fronts/rears and upgrading to a double din HU. Also, if you have any experience with this area and have done the install, how does the stock deadening look, if any at all?

It's not all about the audio setup though, I really haven't decied yet and what I actually want to purchase yet. There are a few dealers around here who are selling 00 S4s with 50k miles for around 15k, or I could buy the already modded S4 that someone is selling on here. I plan on doing alot of serious upgrades performance wise, but I don't know if the milage is worth it. If properly taken care of what is the usual life expectancy on the 2.7 engine?

 

about the audio.....i have 2 12's in my trunk and they are loud...yes the rear seats fold down to allow direct entry....i have 2 12's boston acoustic g1 and im soon upgrading to the boston acoustic spg555 and having a custom box built to go where my spare tire is ....to make my car alot lighter....i suggest going with 1 sub and making it as LIGHT as possible....and the amps i mounted up under the rear deck so you still can take your subs out and it doesnt block your trunk space....

 

The Audio system can be a PITA, the way the amps & head unit works, you will need a knowledgeable shop doing the work.

2k where in the world would i be if you werent there to fix all my pics...i just cant figure it out ..i use photobucket and then generate the html.. and it comes up with 4 ways to do it..i use the 2nd and it sometimes works..is that the right one?? it pisses me off believe me.. i dont know it sucks and i must just be an idiot....thanks alot for all the help 2ks4....

 

well im not really worried about how big of a PITA it will be..me and a buddy can knock it out in a day or so, I'll be running new wires to all of it anyways so as long as the doorpanels and what not arent extremly difficult it shouldn't be that bad
