I recently built a box for my one 12inch sub. i used to have a small one, drilled down on the side opposite of the gas cap. no problems. i built the big box. it made it so it basically is the whole back of my trunk, still tons of space. i put two L brackets on the back of it, one on each end. the one where the old box used to be was fine. i drilled one on the gas-cap side also.

later on, i started to smell gas lol.

after i minor collision with a curb (not related to the gas tank issue), after the work was done, he also said "what are we gonna do bout that hole you drilled in your gas tank" aha. i am going there next week to pick up my car i will let you know what happens. he said many teens do it, and he has a small fix for it

but if you do drill holes, make sure they are no more than 3/8 inch long lol.
