Default Swaybars only worth it for handling?

I'm interested in better handling for my 2002 S4 and was wondering if anyone had experience with replacing just the front and rear swaybars and how much difference that made?? Seems to me to be an inexpensive way to improve the handling. Any suggestions on diameter and if an adjustable rear is worth it or just a gimmick?

whats the difference between a 10mm rod to a 5mm rod and that should answer your question

its the cheapest way to get the most improvement for the buck. but the combination of premium shocks and springs and bushings and all bought at the same level of handling performance makes for a tuned, pricise, street racer! the new stronger component magnifies the weaker ones cause your diving into the corners harder now making it handle odd . i found premium shocks make the biggest improvement with no hassles.

I just upgraded the rear sway with a neuspeed one, it handles amazingly. It really tightens things up. I would reccomend it!

What is "Better"? Just adding a rear bar can really reduce understeer. Stock, there isn't much body roll.

What's you goal?

To much sway bar can hurt you keep in mind. Also think about your tires, sounds stupid but if you were to have the greatest suspension system and crappy tires, you can only use the car to the tire's capabilities. Just one of those basic things not to forget.

Thanks for the comments. My goal.....there's more body roll than I'm comfortable with but I don't have the budget for shocks and springs. Anything I can do to reduce the body roll and improve the handling with limited funds is what I'm after. My first priority is getting the timing belt replaced andgetting it chipped (+TBB/DVs). After that I'm pretty much tapped. From the comments I'm thinking of going with just the rear Neuspeed. It's smaller than some of the others I'm looking at and doesn't include the front bar but without other modifications that's probably good for now. The alternative is for not much more moneygoing with a thicker rear and front. Decisions....decisions....

Nuespeed rear sway bar is said to be the best by far, it is adjustable and comes with subframe braces and all hardware included. NO NEED for front sway on stock suspension, S4's understeer too much as it is.
