2001 a4 door speaker ideas?!
I've posted this question in the a4 section aswell, but wanted to try here too. I'm about to install a pair of 6.5" components in the front doors of my 2001 a4. The tweeters will work perfectly in the factory's tweeter spot, but the woofer clearly doesn't. What have you done? any pics? I'm thinking about just cutting out the bottom section of the door, the pocket area, and replacing it with a new flat panel. Let me know what you think. (the crossover's going to be mounted on the inside of that panel).
I don't know about taking out the pocket area or the crossover mounting, but the 6.5's are probably going to be too deep. I bought a pair of 5.25" Boston Acoustics components & they weren't going to clear the window guide, but I've heard a few people say that they fit 5.25" Polks in their B5's. I'm having a pair of 4" Polks put in mine next weekend and they should be fine since the factory size is 4".
