Default first tank of gas in 'new' 02 allroad!

mmmm it's been a great few weeks and damn i love this car

although i'm not so happy with the gas mileage... here's the rough break down:

4-5 trips to work (I typically ride my bike, but new car and all, just wanted to drive) - round trip only 6 km's or so, through downtown vancouver so lots of stop and go
2-3 semi long trips to the dealer, typical city driving, roughly 50-60 km round trips
a few other misc trips...

BUT, i only got 210 miles for the full tank... the alert was warning me to fill up tonight, so I ended up putting 60 liters (roughly 16 gallons) in the tank. This is only around 12 mpg, and no better then my 5.7 liter v8 camaro (I don't really care, but the wife factor is killing me on this, hehe)

(sorry for the mixing of terms... US car in canada... vag-com on the way for changing cluster and other fun things)

the only thing i've done so far in terms of maintainence is confirm air pressure on all 4 tires @ around 34 psi. I'm about to do a whole list of things (clean maf, new air filter, oil change, fuel filter change, etc...) but it won't happen for another week or so.

Does this seem reasonableto anyone?

My driving style is based on always owing high HP cars and I use this to my advantage in merging, changing lanes, passingetc... so i'd definately be called an agressive driver. But still, I was hoping for a little better then 11-12 mpg!

But if this is all I get, so be it! The car is still a blast to drive and I wouldn't change my mind due to knowing this prior!

cheers,

jeff

I've got a 02 allroad and i'm getting around 18-19 mpg, and i like to drive fast too. Have you, or the dealer you bought it from done an oil change and air filter? I'm sure you already thought about that but just thought i'd throw it out there.
Also here's a little story for ya.... i bought my allroad a few months ago and about three days after i bought it from the dealer i took my car to an audi dealership in town and had them give it a full check and they discovered that one of the turbos was going bad. After a long battle with the dealer i bought the carfrom and the warranty place i got both ofthe turbosreplaced.

11-12 mpg is really damn low for a 2.7T biturbo, you probably have a dirty *** air filter and maybe a few small vaccum leaks causing the engine management to richen up the fuel system.
The 2.7T engine usually gets around 20-22mpg highway, 16-19 city.

I strongly agree with auditech79. I get approximately 22mpg in the summer driving around town, as high as 26 on the highway with the cruise and air on. Winter / cold weatherdrops it a couple of mpg for both. Are you using premium gas? That seems to make a big difference in my car. On regular I get about 20% lower mpg.

thx for the replies guys..

I am using 94 octane gas from stations called Cheveron. It does contain a additive called Techron that I believe I have read does lower gas mileage (but could be mistaken here).

Hoping to start the big round of maintainence work here ASAP.

I'll update on progress and future mileage readings!!
