hi,</P>

i just recently bought a 2000 A4. really good car except now the AC control seem stuck. it's allways blowing air at my feet at 69"F. can't turn it off, change the fan speed, direction, temp. </P>

is this just buttons going bust or some electronics freezing up?</P>

any clues?</P>

thanks.</P>

cup holder is in awful place-probably spilled liquid and gummed up buttons.

yeah, you're probably right, 'cuz the cup holder is also stuck. it wouldn't budge or release.</P>

is this a job for wd40? :)</P>

Id try rubbing alchohol before WD40, WD likes to eat some type of plastics<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Dont use WD40 on your dash trim. Its an petroleum oil based liquid and will stain/etch. You'r better off using a citrius cleaner like goo gone or something.<edited><editID>brrman</editID><editDate>37941.6894328704</editDate></edited>

had the same thing happen to me with my dog. the best thing to do is purchase some handwipes(the ones they use at Bennigans after ribs) and start rubbing into the stuck buttons. you will have to do this several times but saves a headache when taking things apart.</P>

thanks for the feedback. my car acts a bit like firestarter1984 where the controls act a little better as it gets warmer -- either by driving a little while or in the sun. but they don't become fully functional. will try rubbing alcohol to clean up a bit.</P>

thanks.</P>

Go to radio shack and buy the small can of electronics cleaner spray. It works great.

This happened to me too, except that my heat was on high and blowing right in my face.* I suspect the cup holder as well.* It was in the middle of a drive when it got stuck, and I had nothing except a pen knife, which I used to pry the button back out.* It was not by any means a recommended fix, but it worked.* I need to try the rubbing alcohol trick.</p>

lol same thing happened to me too, it was cold outside so i turned the heater on while the buttons were still cold and only that button worked and somehow it was on max heat <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley3.gif border="0"> , then all buttons stop working and i had to drive like that for 25 mins
