I'm getting about 23-24 around town if I keep it in Tip mode and shift it at low rpms. On the highway about 30-31 depending on traffic conditions and my speed. This is a 2003 Avant 1.8T.

i average between 20 and 24 city driving dependent on terrain (lots of lovely hills in the NW) and 32-33 on the highway

Yep, I'm getting right around the same in my 99 2.8qm - it still surprises me that this car is so good on gas, considering the curb weight, quattro, awd, and short gearing. Not complaining though:)

I've only been getting ~23.5 lately (rarely using Tip mode);been doing quite a bit of city driving, though.

My 3.0 avant gets shitty milage... i get the same in my vette :(


14 around town and 22 on the highway... that 6 eats up gas

i get low 20s. i hardly do much freeway driving. anda lot of my driving is done going up and down steep long hills to my work..

but if im doing nothing but highway, i'll get mid to high 30s..

Back in the day when gas was a fair price i could joy ride in the mountains with all those fun twisty windy hills and climbs. But now.....now.....im always watching the mpg [sm=boohoo.gif]
One of my friends almost bought an A4 because he glanced at the screen and too his amazement '56.00' mpg.........

In town, (L.A.), I average 19 mpg. I drove to San Diego last week and averaged 22 mpg. I'm not a hardcore throttler, but I do make a lot of short trips around town, so perhaps the frequent starting and stopping is eating up ga$?

I've only had my 2.8qt avant for a few weeks and i've averaging on 22-23 on mostly freeway driving, 75-80mph, 87 octane. I just boosted the tire pressure to 40psi all around to see if that improves things at all. Going to try a few tanks of 92 octane next month to see if there's any difference... (not expecting much if any)

14-16 mpg driving in auto mode
18-20 if I drip in triptronic
9-11 in sport

I get about 24 in town, 30ish highway.

98 1.8t Quattro manual.

Haven't driven city but with my new (2me) 2001 A4 over the course of the 130 mile trip pickin it up right dead on at 30mpg doin 80 in the rain the entire time on the freeway.

'04 3.0 Quattro Cabriolet. Just turned 18K today

Recent trip with lots of highway netted 30+ with the trip odo recording an average speed over 56 MPH. Local knocking around with REALLY short trips (Under 5 miles and under 40 MPH) nets lower 20's.

Overall, not bad at all. My wife does the local driving and she's no lightfoot.

after i got my K&N my miliage when up by atleast 5 mpg, i get about 28 avg when i drive city/freeway, but in city its barely 20

shitty 14-23 mpg

I get between 32 and 34mpg on the highway keeping the speed under 70mph.

in my 03 qtro 3.0 6 spd i get roughly 18 -21... ive only had it for like three months and its been sh*ty weather since i bought it so im not sure what its like in the summer

I average about 28ish for a mix of mighway ad a dash of city. But when i do all highway i get into the 30s

Manual? Depends on my driving habits, but I'm getting about 300-315 miles a tank right now and I think thats not bad at all, considering its 80-90% city driving. My fuel tank compacity (off the top of my head) is 15.9 gals.. anyone remember how much the reserve is? I'm assuming 2 gallons. 315/13.9, 22.6 mpg.. not bad imo, especially in winter weather.

My '08 A4 B7 3.2 Manual has been getting 23-24 MPG commuting here in Minnesota.

However, since this car has under 100 miles on its clock, I'd be hesitant putting much credence in this number as yet.

I have a 00 A4 1.8T FWD and on the freeway with cruise control set to 70mph today I got 38.5MPG. I just bought the car last week and I am truly amazed.

I'm getting roughly 16 or 17 on my 96.... WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? Shouldn't I be getting mid-twenties? Should I upgrade to 91 octane?

Roughly 65/35 hiway to city. I don't accelerate hard or anything, rarely get about 3k rpm.

I have an 2001 1.8tqm i get 20-24 in the city depending on how spirited I drive and i get 30+ on the freeway. on my roadtrip from san diego to salt lake city I got an average of 35 mpg cruising between 75-80

Worst I can pull is 18, full throttling everywhere. 24 normally, 60/40 highway/city, pretty damn hard on the car too. Edit: 200 mpg downhill!

On the highway in the summer I get 28-29mpg at about 75mph. In the winter it drops to about 24 highway. Not sure about city though. On one trip, all highway, I almsot got 400 miles out of my take. My best ever. Our W8 Passat wagen gets 23mpg on the highway, not bad when you concider its making 273hp, and how much bigger it is then my A4. Oh yeah, both cars are tiptronic and we run premium all the time. I'm about to cross 100k in the next month, and the W8 has about 78k.

wtf? oh thats it.. there HAS to be something wrong with my car... I get only get 15-20MPG and I have a 3.0 B6! aaahhh!! I'm gonna call the Audi Service place tomorrow and get a copy of the service records and then I'm taking it to this Audi shop to have it looked at for the Gas issue and the noise when I turn that I posted about...

I just hit 70.3k miles so I need it to be serviced.. I called the shop and they said $200 for the 70k scheduled service.

I got a 2003 1.8t i drive mostly city and get around 30 to 34mpg. Its never cold where i live though. 45 is cold here but on highway ive gotten my car to 38mpg and when i fill up it says i have 415 miles to empty.

i guess whats really killing me is that i take a lot of short trips. my drive to school is about 10 minutes, all stop and go. everywhere i go is city driving and short too

About 24mpg in traffic, and about 36mpg @ 70mph on the highway. I use BP 0% ethanol fuel from Wisconsin.

If you drive using your tiptronic does that give you a little better mpg? Cuz i've never heard about that before..

i do pretty much all city driving in my 3.0 quattro, get about 19. Highway, I get 23-25. I'm not complaining, though. Can't beat that low end torque.

I think by (76) he was refering to the station, not the grade of gas.

2003 A4 3.0 MT6 with 71k miles

Mostly driven by my daughter, but when I got it this past summer I took a couple trips to Detroit (~360 RT) and saw 25-26 mpg at 70-75. Easily did it on a tank of gas. I suspect more conservative speed (55-65) would achieve closer to 30 mpg.

Around town, not so good. Seems to barely achieve 20 and with real cold winter weather (consistently below freezing) and short trips, it struggles to get 16-18 mpg.

By comparison, the A6 is used almost exclusively for highway driving (127k) and averages 22-23 at 70-80 and 24-25 at 60-65. The computer does show 28-30 when I drive it 50-55, but I don't have enough patience to drive at that speed very long. (All the other mileage numbers are calculated, not computer.)

'99 A6 Avant- I'm only getting 19 mpg with about 75% of my driving of freeway. I used to get 23-24. Tune up time?
