Default keyless entry help

well whe ni bought my 01 a6 they told me the battery died in my keyless entry remote but it turned out there was no battery at all, so does any one know whick battery i need to get so i can have my keyless working.

If you only have 1 key, you may need to the dealer so that it can be programed. I had to do this on my '01. I don't know what kind of battery they installed because I just had them do everything since I had to take it there anyway. I bought an extra key so I wouldn't have to go through that again.

itsa 3v batteryand should work when fitted ( the system remembers the remote )

thanks but what 3volt battery cause i tried so many that there outta to big or to small and it doesn't say in the remote.

It takes 2 x CR1620.

Once the battery is replacedyou will need to lock and unlock the drivers door with the key before the car will recognize the remote again.

those are what i was looking for the cr1620's but walmart didnt have them, any suggestions?

The Audi keys don't charge when the key is in the ignition?, just wondering because my last BMW did that.
