Default Questions, Looking to Buy

Hi, all.

I'm looking into buying a used TT Roadster 2004, or a 2005 after the 2006 come out and the 2005 rentals are returned. Are there any thoughts on which model year is better? 2004 or 2005?

I think that I would like the 250 hp model, but does anyone have any input on the 225 hp model vs. the 250 hp model? I'm not interested at all in the 180 because of the lower performance and automatic transmission.

I'll probably buy pretty soon, so your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Your 2005 purchase will be limited - the price won't be decreased by much and there will be a limited selection.

The 225 is a solid engine. The 250 is very new; data on its reliability and performance are limited in scope.
I don't know if you'd notice much difference in overall performance because the TT has so many other fun factors - you'll be happy regardless.

I'm just hoping to get a used model in great condition. I was thinking maybe a year-old leased model that someone has taken $10K or so off of...

The 225 and 250 TT's are very similar when it comes to performance, especially 0-60. Although the 250 does have the advantage, i dont think it comes with anything except the DSG gearbox, no manual. 225's all have six speeds. If price is what you're looking for i sugguest looking at a 5-speed manual, 180 horsepower TT. I have a 180 myself and while it isnt quite as fast as the other two engines, its not that far behind them either, less than a second 0-60 i believe. I got my 2002 TT quattro coupe' with the 180 engine, fully loaded with every option, and around 19k miles for around 25k-26k dollars. A few performance modifications here and there and you have the same power for a lower price.
