I wasn;lt far off you Firestarter - we had the same 3.1 chevy engine!
1. 1992 Cavalier Wagon 3.1L 160hp: Bought in 1996 - at one point I had everything I owned in that thing and drove about 2000 miles loaded down. The car was ok for the first 2 years I had it, but once it hit the apex, it was all downhill pretty quickly - until one day it would not start and I just abandoned it (I had bought the A4 3 days earlier)
2. 1998.5 Audi A4 quattro tip: Was looking for a new car and considered the Passat. The drove by house of a privat eseller with this parked out front, sign in the window. Drove it and bought it the next day. Chipped the car only about a year ago.
Man, tell me about it - I just finished removing the Bose system and put in all aftermarket - holy shyte! Had to make adapters to fit all the new speakers in there... and running wires in this car is a major pita.

1. 1988 Ford Taurus wagon. Paid my grandparents 400 bucks for it. Wrecked it 6 months later by doing a 180 into a large collection of mail boxes.

2. 1995 Plymouth Voyager. Parents gave me this to replace the wagon. Got sick of it after3 months and decided I needed an audi.

3. 1986 4kcs. Bought in 2001 for2 grand from a local hippy. Car had 125k, with H&R/Boge setup, VW Gti techtonics resonator and boxwith Vette style tip(excellent sound, much like a ferrari), 300z hood scoop, quattro script interior and some engine mods that are stillm being kept secret. I have never seen an audi run like this one. The car was originally a dealership car, but changed hands several times. After I rolled the car on its side, hit 5 deer, rode a 75 degree bank and just generally beat the piss out of it, i decided that this car was better left to rest in pieces.

4. 1985 4ks. Bought in aud Aug. of 03. Still don't have a title for the car, but no problem cause i don't have a liscence.

I have driven many of the rents cars like, passats, millenia, slaabs and jeeps among others, but the above are the ones I consider to be mine.

2. 1972 Jeep CJ5 with a big block 401 cubic inch motor

3. 1999 Nissan Maxima SE

4. 2000 Ford Taurus

5. 1972 Chevy Corvette -- 350ci bored and stroked, intake, exhaust, hurst shifter, hooker headers,ac removed for more hp, upgraded brakes, kenwood cd player/changer, 2 kenwood amps and subs, custom box and compartments, one bad mofo, fastest car I have ever owned, and the best looking, I miss that one.

6. 1997 Ford expedition -- 4x4 5.4L

7. 1984 Ford Bronco -- 4x4, 351 5.8L.Still ahve this one its one bad off-roading machine!

8. 1997 Audi A4 1.8T quattro -- currently own this one too, nice and fun but unreliable.

I dunno the total hp and i dont wanna go research all those damn cars so whatever, but you all know u jus got owned for that award.

First car: 1978 Saab 99GLE - Drove it for 6 months before getting rid of it. Gas tank was leaking sold for $500.
Second Car: 1978 Honda Accord LX CVCC (Worst POS I've ever driven), Cam gear stripped that drove the oil pump.
Third Car: My Dad used to let me drive his 1984 Saab 900 Turbo (Fast as hell) - was able to dust a lot of the muscle cars in the central NY area (off the line and through turns... the guy who had it before my Dad tuned it a little bit. And he also let me drive an 86 VW Jetta (before I totaled it).
Next was the 86 Subaru GL-10 Turbo (another fun car).
From 93 to 2000, it was my 1985 Audi 5000S that I coverted to a 5-speed. If it wasn't going to cost several grand to replace the electrical system, I'd still be driving it today.
Current car... 2000 Hyundai Accent 120K miles - Great car, inexpensive, just don't expect much in performance and handling... fun to tinker with though...

1) 1984 Toyota Supra, 160hp 2.8L engine. Very fun car
2) 1984 VW Jetta GLI- Burnt Orange with a pretty nice custom exhaust
3) 1977 Lincoln Continental 460 V8, bought it just for the hell of it
4) 1989 Chevy Beretta GT, 2.8 v6- A beater I bought to get me to my next car
5) 1981 Mercedes 300d- well over 300k, and a great ride. Although slow as death
6)Current car 1991 Audi 80 Quattro. Awesome car to drive in the snow, and around town, but shit goes wrong with it a lot.

Oh Jeesh! Mine is a long list.
Let's just leave it with: It begins with a 1969 VW Karmann Ghia with Porsche internals and includes a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7 with a Shelby Cobra 289, two 1980 German delivery BMW's (manual 320i and auto 320i), a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo Rancho/MT Pre-Runner Desert RAT, and a 2002 Mercedes Benz 320E Super Salon.
This does not include my yellow duck - a 2000 Imola S4.

I've also had numerous company vehicles of the sort you would expect - the last one being a PT Cruiser. i was actually quite impressed at the build quality, after having Neons, Shadows, Aries, et al.
My favorite of all of them? That's hard to say. I'm obviously delighted with the Avant. Also loved the RX-4 wagon, the 300ZX turbo, the Corvair, and even the '64 Pontiac Ventura. I think the Mercury Colony Park wagon broke my heart, though. Woudda loved to drive around in that land yacht. I might even look for another one someday.

Judging by the list, you are most faithful to the Ford line, no? Although it looks like you were fond of GM for a while, too.
karguy427
09-15-2004, 06:21 PM
Yeah, kind of switched alligiance a few years back in the 80's when GM quality remained flat, and in the early 90's Ford's started to improve dramatically. I'll still consider ANY vehicle, as long as it meets my requirements of looks, driveability, and dependability. No ugly cars like a Aztek in my garage. Most beautiful? - BMW 635CSi; 67 Buick Riviera; Can't think of others right now.

The '93 Rodeo was the previous model - not the current one. I actually thought it had pretty clean lines for a SUV. ...Put a color-matching brush guard on the front end to give it some pizzazz. It was good enough for Honda to put the Passport name on it starting in '94.

I've never owned any of my cars, they were all technically my parents but heres my list,
1. 1990 Green Volvo Station Wagon 80K miles- (with the pop-up trunk seats!) My mom's old car, which sat in the driveway mostly undriven for a few years, waiting for me to get my permit. Drove it for the majority of the time i had my permit.
2. 1995 BMW 540i 75K miles- My dads old car, when i got my licence he decided to buy a new car and give me the beamer (his new car 2003 RS6). Loved this car, ran good, looked good, couldnt be happier. Drove this for about a year and a half, when the tranny among other things started having inssues. My mom got worried because the guy at the shop told her he found metal shavings in the transmission and it could potentially "give-out" at any moment on a freeway. (thank you overdramatic shop guy, you got me a new car).

Dude no offense, but you wreck a lot. Whats the deal? Theresa time for defensive driving and a time to accelerate hard every gear. You gotta know when to have fun and when to just cruise, lotta dumb drivers out there to watch for, so pay attention[&:]
I'm only 17 and have 1 year driving experience... so I haven't wrecked... I'll admit I've been in bad situations already that aren't my fault but handle them well.... I was on the back roads around here rallying, pushing 40mph over the 40mph speed limit and 25+ mph over the recommended speed limit on tight turns... and I go down a curve and as I come back up, two big german sheppards are walking down towards me, I had to act quick... looked ahead no car coming down at me on this 2 lane road, so I lightly braked, turned (Slide a little) into the other lane, gave it some gas and corrected myself back into my lane avoiding the dogs.... Not fun, at all.... Thats the only downside to where I rally. Its f**king small beat up houses with dogs (EVERYWHERE) typically though they avoid the road and stay in the yards. But it gives you some adrenaline, especially if I go farther out and don't know the road sometimes your going over a hill and you can't see the other side, and you look straight and theres a road down there but really your road is curving to the right, you gotta have reaction when your pushing 70mph... I used to go do this twice a month, but I've seen to many cops just driving through there and don't want a 30-50mph over the speed limit on my record so I haven't been in a while. It is fun though, aside from very small 2 lane roads and the possibilty someone veers into your lane or you do into theres, I wish I had the entire road to myself for a couple miles so I could really destroy the road. Now that would be a kick:D"Rallying" is fun, if you consider what I do "Rallying"
Little risky, but fun!
And as for cars I've owned:
2003 Audi A4 1.8TQ (And thats it, cause I'm young)
I'd love to own a 350z or something with RWD though... my friends 240sx is a blast!

i have been in three accidents in 7 years, only one was my fault the other two i got rear ended.. the calais met its doom because i was off roading with it, it was my fault but off the books so it dosent count.. so really only two accidents in 7 years only one on the books as my fault..

1stvehicle - '84 Nissan Sentra, got it as hand me down from my bro after grad in '87. That car went through hell but held pretty good, caught air going over railroad tracks many times. Went through 3 clutches in 1 year...traded it in '89 for:
2ndvehicle - '90 Honda Civic SI, it was a fun car to drive but had issues with the ignition control module (recalled). Put in 140,000 miles and traded it in '96 for:
3rd vehicle - '96 Ford Ranger ext. cab. what a pos that truck was, no power, could barely pull its own weight. Went to a Honda dealer 2 weeks after getting the truck but was already upside down on the deal, so kept it for a while. Traded it in 2002 for:
4th vehicle - 2003 Chevy Silverado ext. 4.8L - It has been very dependable, not a single problem for 57,000 miles now. Still own this truck
5th vehicle - 2006 A4 2.0T quattro, it will be a year old at the end of this month:)

1989 Volkswagen Jetta (auto/grey)- This was my first car! I still own it, the exterior doesn't look great, but the interior is brand new (it only has 90K on it!)... It always starts first turn of the key, never had a single problem with it. (it has like 100hp)
1997 Ford explorer xlt (4 door) (auto/white)- bought it used w 37k on the clock, it was the 4.0L SOHC, it was damn fast for an SUV with only bolt ons, broke a connecting rod and sold it for $350... (prolly had around 280hp) Leased a 2001 VW Jetta VR6 (brand new) (5spd/black)- It was nothing but problems, VW finally lemoned it out and gave me a ---- (173hp I think?)
2003 VW Jetta VR6 - another worthless lemon (173hp?)(5spd/black)...started driving the Explorer again.... 1992 Mazda Miata (5spd/black) - fun ass car, put alot of hard work and money into it, flipped it driving the canyons (160hp)
1972 Datsun 240Z (currently blue/4spd)(I think I am gonna go black and do a full motor/tranny swap)- My current race car, not currently street legal, up on jack stands at the moment, I love this car! (160hp at the moment) 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro (5spd/ black)- I freakin love this damn car!...(150hp)1296hp total to the crank! (so far)
Can you see a pattern w black 5speed cars?...By the end of summer my 240z will be a black 5spd!

1. 1986 Chevrolet Sprint - silver/grey/rust - my first car, bought it when I was 17. had a 1.0L 3 cylinder with a 5 spd, ran on 2 cylinders for most of the time I had it. sold it after I bought the first RX7. (45ish hp)
2. 1986 Mazda RX7 - metallic grey - non turbo, 5 spd. original motor seized at about 110K miles, had a rebuilt motor installed for ~$3000. that motor was a POS, I got ripped off on it. it ended up cracking the part of the rotor housing where the water pump attaches, needed a new motor. assholes wouldn't cover it under warranty, and by the time I got my sh*t together for a lawsuit the company had gone under and the guys disappeared... sold the car to buy the next rex. (150ish hp)
3. 1989 Mazda RX7 turbo II - red - 5 spd, full exhaust, MBC @ ~15 psi with FCD, big injectors, walbro 255lph drop in pump, clutchmasters stage 3 clutch with LWFW, probably more mods that I'm forgetting. car got stolen, all the parts ripped off, and burned in the mountains. I may or may not have cried. (250ish hp)
4. 1985 Nissan 200SX - orangey reddish - 5 spd, 2.0L 8 valve. bought it as a rally car project with my best buddy. really fun car to drive, decent amount of power in a light shell with RWD. sold it a year later for $100 more than we paid for it, after thoroughly beating the sh*t out of it and replacing the rear end (twice, lol). (110hp)
5. 1987 Dodge Omni - white - 5 spd, project car. swapped a 2.5L turbo motor into it and had big plans for it but they never happened. the car's sitting on blocks at my buddy's parents' house. should probably get rid of it. (~200hp)
6. 1996 Dodge Neon Sport - green - 5 spd, 2.0L DOHC, K&N panel filter, KYB AGX struts. bought it with the insurance settlement from the 2nd RX7. still trying to sell the damn thing now that I bought the audi. (150hp)
7. 1999.5 Audi A4 - black - 1.8T, quattro, 5 spd. sport package, leatherette interior. bone stock for now. first car I've ever had to make payments on. [:@] (150hp)
total - ~1055hp

1988 Lincoln Towncar - totally averaged 9mpg, ford 5.0 HO swap and straight pipes. Loud as hell, slow as anything, but man was I pimpin'
1993 Chevy Cavalier - 35 mpg mixed, had the 2.2 and it was a fun, reliable car to drive. None of the creature comforts one would like, but it was a great commuter car. Gave it to my brother since he's in school and needed something to just put around in. only had 90k miles when I gave it to him, all original with no major parts replaced. I think the most money I had to spend on it was buying new shocks when the old ones wore out, and the coil packs. As far as low maitnence goes, that one was about as low as they came.
1999 (1999.5?) A4TQM - Currently own, mostly a daily driver with a few autocrosses planned. No mods yet, and I probably paid a little too much for it but eh. How many people get a mint 99 with only 45k miles and a two-year full waranty?

1) 1977 Monte Carlo, bought it with 68K original miles (from a guy who looked a lot like Sipowitz(sp?) from NYPD Blue), drove it for less than a year when I was 16, then the frame startedrustingso I sold it.
2) 1993 Cavalier, first manual transmission, was taught to drive itin an icy parking lot going uphill, good learning experience. When i bought this car, the line the salesman at the car lot used was "If I was going to skip town in any car on this lot tonight, this would be the one" needless to say it wasn't exactly the most upscale car lot, but the car was a tank.Sold this to buy...
3) 1996 Jetta 2.slow, fell in love with this car as soon as I test drove it. Had the money saved to put a supercharger on it and totalled it two weeks before I planned to buy the SC. Didn't have collision on it (because all my speeding tickets made my insurace sky high)so the SC money went to buying...
4) 1992 Maxima SE, searched for three weeks after totalling the Jetta for another VW, but found nothing in my price range. I found the Maxima and despite it being an automatic, which I told myselfI would never own after my first manual, I bought it.When I went to buy it, the car lot was getting ready to close and it was on St. Patty'sDay. The salesman who also happened to be the owner's son just wanted to go get drunk, so I beat him up on the price untilI paid just under 70% of the sticker price out the door (I was very proud of myself). Saved up some cash, sold the Maxima and bought my precious...
5) 1998.5 A4TQM I don't think I really need to explain to anyone in this forum the love that I have for this car, as I'm sure you all feel the same way about yours. Bought it from some douchebag who didn't know what he had and got it for almost $3K under book value.

6) 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. 4.6L v8. Hand me down. Hustled pretty good for a grandpa car with air ride.
7) 1988 Isuzu Impulse. 2.3l 4 cyl, 5 spd, RWD. Handling by LOTUS. Best handling car ive ever owned. Affectionately known as SWAMPTHING due to smell from leaky sunroof.
8) 1994 Ford Tbird. 4.6L/auto.Cobra hood. 96 clear lights/corners, HARD shift kit. (breaks tires loosein 1st/2nd/3rd) Still own, might be selling, had aspirations of swapping in a 2003 cobra motor. (may still do this in a few years if i dont sell it.) Nicest car ive owned.
