New member - looking at 2003 TT Quattro tonight
Hi guys. I am going to look at a silver 2003 Audi TT Quattro this evening after working. I have already arranged for financing, and will bring it home if it looks and drives good. Any words of wisdom when checking it out tonight?

Edit --- yeah, I already read the FAQ as well

It's coming down to this TT or a 2004 STi. I just don't think I can see my self in some pocket rocket with a huge wing. At this point in life, I'd like a nice mix of luxury with a sporty edge. So I think this is just what I am looking for. And I do prefer the low miles. 5 years old with 29k miles gives me greater reassurance it's had an easy life.
I'll add that the above price includes a 4 year warranty. I thought about ditching it, but as I have no plans other than simple stuff (intake, catback, coil overs) I may as well keep it in case of electrical issues or timing belt problems.
make sure Timing belt is done!!! and also see when the last tune up was done, should give you a good indication as to what kind of "care" the last owner had for the Car.
also with any car, check to see how much is left on the brake pads, also i know this sounds dumb but..
check the e-brake... youd be surprised at how many dealers try to pass on cars with them non functioning (e-brake not necissary to pass safety in Ontario) also another dumb thing but also good to know. if you are checking the car during the day .... make sure all the lights work, check all the ***** are good, such as heated seat *****, all the light go on? in cabin light. center console has the trunk release, alarm and gas cap... make sure they all work and dont feel like thy had a million cups of coffee spilt on them
its winter time, so might as well be a stickler about treadwear and make sure you got winters or at least all seasons on it also most dealer will take care of a rust proofing for you ( i know this is dumb too but always good to be a stickler and this only applies if you have snow/salt in your area)
remember every dealer is always trying to rip you off and they are always crossing their fingers that you wont notice, might aswell try to get a little somehting back, cuz fatefully after a week and you get used to your car you will start noticing

The Timing Belt? Really? At only 29k miles? The FAQ said 60k was the standard. That's a bit worrysome if I need to replace timing belt every 30k.
I'll definitely check the tire tread, but being in Austin, I'd be shocked to see winter tires on it

Don't think you'll be needing those snow tires either.
