Probably a 1/4-1/2" will have to be ground out. make sure you have some touch up paint handy to paint the exposed metal.

I didn't use touch up paint ( dealer was closed ). I just went to PepBoys and got some spray clear and used it. I have recut them a few times to get them to where I wanted them and sprayed each time. I just taped off the fender and covered it with newpaper before cutting and spraying to protect the rest of the fender. I am very happy with how they look now. I cut it all the way back to the bend and the headlights sit all the way back there now. If I was to do it again on new fenders I might leave about a 1/16 of a inch before then bend.

hope that helps,

Enjoy,

take away a little at a time man... it's REALLY hard to mess this up. but like they said, definatly have some paint on hand, last thing you want is to be coating paint over moisture. That's about the only place you can really mess up... the fender trimming doesn't HAVE to be perfect... just decient. any little imperfection will be covered by the headlight anyway
