Default Looking for a B6

Hey everyone, I was looking to buy an A4. I wanted a B6, preferably a 3.0 Quattro. and I was wondering if there was anything that I would need to know about them, such as common problems, or what to look for when looking around. and I was hoping to spend less than $20,000. Roughly what kind of condition do you think I could get with that (mileage, problems....etc.)? I know these are n00b questions, but any help you guys can give would be great. Thanks!

Hey man welcome, I’m just as much as a n00b at this stuff, the best thing I can tell you is read Chaos92287’s post “Newbies Guide Version 2†he has tons of info about the A4’s. Look at the 1.8T you can get more parts and with the stage 1+ it has some ***** I hear.

3.0 is a great engine if you dont want to mod at al. service will cost you a lot more though, and the cat converters tend to go bad... very expensive, hard job...

1.8t with APR 1+ will destroy a 3.0 on the interstate and get better mileage (if u drive right) and service is cheaper.. keep an eye out for an ultrasport....... great looking cars, i get 30-34MPG with all my mods still (25MPG if i run hard on the interstate)

The stock 1.8t engine is underpowered, but if you want power & you want to keep your engine stock, get a 3.0. With some mods (chip, DV for starters), a 1.8t will own a 3.0L. The only engine mod a 3.0 has is a supercharger, which will set you back about $5k. The cost of a timing belt job is much cheaper on the 1.8t, as opposed to the 3.0. If you do decide on a 1.8t, and you change your own oil, you MUST use synthetic.

Whichever one you decide on, good luck on your purchase.
