Picking up 00 A4 w/mods.. advice on price please!
Well, I just sold my 93 integra gs-r, mainly because I outgrew the whole honda boy racer image, and wanted something with awd, 4 doors, and luxury. Thats where the A4 came in. Ive been looking for one that fits me for about a year now, and finally found it. I just need some advice on the price, and the overall value of the car. Its a 2000, 1.8t, manual, black on black, and has: (according tot he seller)
$4,000 Garrett/ATP Turbocharger upgrade!!!
Greddy Intercooler
Rieger RS-R Front Bumper Upgrade
S-4 Grill
Garrett 50 A/R Turbocharger
HKS Blow Off Valve
ATP Exhaust Manifold
TIAL Waste Gate
AWE Center Vent Turbo Boost Gauge
Fuel Ratio Computer
Upgraded Fuel Rail
Large Fuel Injector Kit
Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel
Heavy Duty Sport Clutch
Short Shifter Kit
Custom 3" Mandrel Bent Exhaust
Custom 3" Mandrell Bent Downpipe
Neuspeed Anti-Sway Bars
Neuspeed Sport Springs
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 225/45/ZR/17
Ronal Wheels
Tinted Windows
An older airline pilot owns the car, and we sort of agreed upon 15500 for the car, after being smog legal (hes going to put the smog pump, and cat back on). It has 60,000 miles, and clean title. He says he purchased the car as it is now, and is selling because his wife flipped when he bought it last month. The one thing that obviously needs to be changed is the BOV. Im just asking if this is a good price, and if it sounds like a good overall setup, and if there are any particulars I need to look out for when I pick it up next week.
thanks!

uh ya most deff a killer deal man. i payed 13k for my 01 with 70k on it. id deff buy this up before someone else does seriously. also ask on the maintance records...oh ya got any pics?
Be VERY careful with that purchase! I know the mods are all that and a bag of chips but think about how a car like that was most likely treated. Try to find out when the mods were done to the car. If it was recently modded then I'd feel a bit more safe, but if he modded at say..15k...you can bet your *** that thing has taken a serious beating! Make sure to get service records and take it to a shop and have it looked at before you purchase it.
The timing belt is gonna need to be replaced anytime now so keep that in mind as well. That will run you another 4-800 dollars depending on what kind of deal you can get and if you do it yourself. Get a CarFAX report on it.
Know everything you possibly can about the car before you buy it. Garaged? Oil changes? Average travel time per use? (short travel times can influence a cars longevity.)
Be smart, and good luck!

Yeah, im very weary, thats why Im asking on the forum. I ran a carfax, came up clean, and was a previous fleet vehicle, and appears to have been all dealer serviced previously. Im not sure if thats a good thing, or a bad thing though. Im guessing all the modifications were recent, considering it was a fleet vehicle and it has realitively low miles. I dont know if it was a track car previously, or a daily driver, and the person im buying it from did not do the modifications, so its a bit sketchy. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
I ran a carfax, and it verified his story somewhat, showing that the owndership changed 2 months ago. About the mechanic- I trust my own judgement, ive down countless motor swaps, full motor builds, suspension, and body work over the years, and have owned more than my fair share of vehicles. Im not as familar with audis/vw's as I am with other makes, but thats why im on here to see what to especially to look for in this car in general, and a car with these specific modifications. Plus, the fact that the car is in colorado and im flyinf out next week to bring it back to CA doesnt help either. Thanks
