Hey everyone, I live in the UK and have just passed my driving test, looking to buy a first car!
Every 17 year old here seems to have a Corsa or Fiesta or something similar, partly because they're cheap to insure to an extent (those not familiar with UK car tax, let's just say I got quoted £4000 for a car worth £1000 - it's ridiculous.)
Long story short I have a budget of around £2k and have found a 51 (2001) plate Audi A2, 1.4 litre petrol, has done around 76,000 miles and is on sale for £1999

my question is, assuming I can convince my parents to get me it (my dad wants to get me a VW Gold because they're "reliable", and whilst I've heard a few dodgy things about A2's, I am fully aware of the reliability of audis - my mum has had 2 A3's and loves them, have never let her down), is this a good buy for myself?
Additional info is welcome, and if any young person in the UK has any tips on cheap insurance/how much they reckon the A2 will cost to get insured, that would be most welcome!
