Default 2006, A3 2.0 TDI S Line, 'glow plug broken' - 'Apparently' please help

Hi

Monday 3pm, picked up my new car, A3 2.0 TDI 170, S Line. ((Sept 2006)

on 46k miles full dealear history has has had 2 long life services, was an ex lease an seemed to be an absolute minter...

9am Tuesday, doing about 15mph allowing a car to turn, accelerated away 2nd -3rd then pop, loss of power, massive juddering, engine sounding like a gang of something was under the bonnet lumping the engine with a sledgehammer.

stopped imediately, left for a few mins,re started, no change, was able to limp the mile or so home.. as this was my first proper journey in my brand new car.......

I received NO management warning lights at all, there is oil in the car and nothing leaking but was very ropey and even blowing a little smoke. I had driven 70 miles or so back from the garage when collected and was absolutely spot on.

they came and took it away on a wagon and returned my part ex'd focus which luckily I still had the tax for so was able to re insure. and have now told me they think the tip of a glow plug had broken off and dropped down and that is the sole problem, they are gonna strip it down this morning and remove any peices, and replace any parts that may be damaged due to this and also drain oil and replace with filters as a precaution .. all under warranty...

I know thats not a major amount of techincal info, but does this sound feasable as a cause?

I would apprciate any feedback as i have shelled out every penny I had on this car and am now absolutely scared stiff thy are selling me a dud, though they are a reputable Audi specialist by all accounts.

Any help appreciated

Sounds like the tip of the glow plug was swollen. Did the tip fall into the cylinder? If it did fall into then they would really have to strip off because it might damage other parts inside.

Try to check out all the other parts of your vehicle, other than of the glow plug. I think it has to do with the things or parts that can affect the whole vehicle. There's nothing wrong with trying to check out things rather than not to see the whole problem of the car.
