Default 97 A3

This is my first Audi and i am wondering if anyone is familiar withthe 1997Audi A3 1.8 Turbo 20 Valve. On my title it says that its an A3 and ive been told that its the first Generation of the S3. Heres the catch i live in Germany, and ive read through many Threads. do they sell this particular car in the US?

Guten Tag! We didn't get the A3 in the US until 2006, so we only have the second generation. We have the 2.0T and the 3.2 as engine options. We do not have the S3, and it doesn't look like we're likely to get it any time soon. You car would be a first generation model.

Where are you in Germany?

Well then that would explain why i cant get any parts from the States. I live in Neunkirchen, about 2hrs from Frankfurt and 20 Mins away from Saarbrucken.

Is there another vehicle that has the same motor so i can get parts. Parts here in Germany are to damn expensive. for example i need a new serpentine belt, goes around the power steering, AC, Alternator and Crank, its going to cost me 90 Euros over 115 dollars for this belt, its a double sided multi-ribbed belt. and of course im looking for upgrades and Modifiers. any help is appreciated!

There are quite a few cars in the US that do have the 1.8T: VW New Beetle, Mk4 GTI (1997-2005) and Jetta (1998-2005), Passat (1996-2005), Audi A4 (1995-2005), and TT (1999-2006). I'm not sure if there is any difference in parts between the transversal 1.8T and the longitudal1.8T. Both the A4 and the Passat are longitudal, so I would probably avoid any parts from those engines just to be safe. The TT, GTI, Jetta, and New Beetle should be a perfect match to your engine since they are transversal based on the same PQ34 platform as your 1997 A3.

Do you have a source in the US for parts?
