Hi All,

Please could someone advise me about my 2007 A3 2.0 TDI. Disaster struck today when traveling back home from a weekend away.

Was cruising at 75mph(ish) and suddenly the engine died and cut out. Couldn't hear any engine noise as music was on. Pulled over and on the hard shoulder but the car would not start again. The temp gauge was bang on normal temp. I had been driving 1hr 30mins. No smoke. I lifted the bonnet and the coolant was all still there. The only warning light was the orange flashing coil on dashboard.

The car is serviced regularly and MOT'd. I put 1ltr of oil in at the end of our journey down as the low oil orange warning light came on right at the end. Regret not checking before setting off now - hindsight is great thing. Anyway I have put the same oil in before and its been fine.

The recovery dude suggested it might be the 'injectors' and if one went they all go at £400 a piece! Could this be right? I am having it delivered back home tomorrow so need some top tips on what it could be - anyone know of regular faults like this in my model.
