I purchased a new 2012 A3 2.0 TFSI.
It is a beautiful working car.
I only drive it about a 1000 kilometres a month or about 621 miles a month.
About every three months plus or minus I have to add from a half a liter to a full liter of synthetic oil.
My A3 works really well, quite to drive does not have a rattle or noise anywhere.
It does not have any exhaust smoke just a delight to drive.
I phoned my Audi dealer and he tells me that is normal.

Should I ask for some test when I take it in for service at the end of October?

I have heard this tons of times from many different car manufacturers. How much i agree on it i don't know. I had a 87 bmw convert in the 90's and never lost a pinch of oil, drove that to 125K before i sold it. Moved up to a 98 M3 and would always be a quart or more low at the time of oil change which was every 5k miles. It even happened to my chevy tahoe for the four years of ownership. It was always low and the motor was clean no leaks. I guess you need to get use to it. How many miles you have on your car? If its low maybe it still needs to be broken in.

I do not drive it a lot. I only have 23,589 kilometres on it which is about 14,657 miles.
i do agree that is is not broke in yet.
When I take it in for service next month I will ask them to check it.

I was also told using a different brand of oil can make this better or worse. Try a different type of oil and see what happens. Good luck!

 

The oil that my Audi dealer told me to use is Castrol EDGE with SPT-SAE 5W-40.
This is the same oil that was in my A3 when purchased. I was told to use this one to keep it topped up. This is what I have been doing.
