Is my turbo blown?
Hi Guys,
I was going to join this forum anyway, but after yesterdays events I have a bigger reason to.
On the way to work, doing about 80mph, my A3 2.0 TDI DSG all of a sudden limits me to 60 mph. I pull over and I see white smoke coming from the exhuast when I rev the engine, nothing at idle.
Previous weeks I noticed heavier black coming from the exhuast under accelaration, which was worrying.
RAC (Recovery Guy) said it was the turbo that had gone. No coolant was lost so the oil seal or main bearing had blown. I believe this as there is oil all over the inlet pipe pipes leading to the intercooler.
Is this assessment correct do you think? What could of caused this, wear and tear or is it worth plugging it in to a code reader after the turbo is fixed?
Car has done 93k miles
Thanks
Luke
