First off.. I should just add this to my signature... I have a '99 audi a4 1.8t all stock

I found these wheels for only $115 each and thought they looked pretty good, but I'm not sure about the quality. They are only 18x8 and I've been reading that it's recommended to get 18x8.5 instead... Are these wheels any good? Do they look good to you? .. What should I do about the wheel size?

Also.. I'm not sure how I go about getting the right shocks/springs/struts for my car....what do I need? I am clueless to how any of this works and what I should get to fit with my wheels that I plan to buy.

Approximate prices would be very helpful also!

18x8's are fine they'll sit fine. I personally am not a fan of oem wheels or replicas. But its a personal choice and if you like them then get them 115 is a good price and im sure there a quality wheel. Good luck

 

As far as struts/shocks go with blistein there amazing and id go with the sport option for them. H&R and Eibach springs are proven.

 

For suspension you have severall options.

You can go fully adjustable coilovers. - Made for more hardcore enthusiasts who want adjustable ride height and maximum performance. These set-ups can range but are mostly all over a grand,

Second option (and most practicall) Is a spring shock combo of your choice. Most guys round here go with eibach spring and bilstien struts combo. Head on over to www.awetuning.com and check out there set-ups.


As for your wheels. Size is all upto you, the important thing is offset. The correct offset for our car is 35mm. When you enter your car in tire rack it should filter to just that size so dont sweat fitment issues. As for the 8/8.5 issue, thats all upto you. If you wanna run a wider wheel run it. I would base the decision off tires. If you are really into a certain tire company/tire it self then I would buy your wheel width based off the availiability (and price) of the tire. Other that that it doesnt make a damn difference. Widder is better...

 

I don't plan on getting coilovers... so shocks/springs are all I need to lower it and get better handling? mMmmm

As far as tires.. I have no particular tire I like.. I'm not even sure what tires are good... suggestions? I live in texas and the roads are pretty much dry.. it's been a very warm winter (80 degrees at one point)

Are struts just to get a little more precise height?

I'm not quite sure what you meant about the "offset of 35mm"...do I need to accomodate for this somehow?

They're pretty plain wheels.. but they are cheap and I'm not looking for a long term investment.. plus they look a lot better than my stock wheels

Totally. But yeah man go for it id go either 225 or 235 depending on what kind of drop you get.

 

225 or 235?

looks like i'm going to get whatever awe shock/spring combo they have

 

225 is a lower profile to the 235 but not by much id go 225/40/18
