Hey, I was wondering if someone could help me find the access point to the fuel pump inmy 2002 Audi A4. The dealer said there should be a big bolt under the back seat, but the metal plate in my model doesn't have a bolt there.
Does anyone have any info to help me?

Please help! I'm new to this Audi World. Just bought it. It's a peach. About one week after I got it this sound is coming from the back, sounds like birds chirping near the fuel tank. Do you think this is a bad fuel pump or maybe I just need a new fuel filter?
I know all you Audi fanatics can help a fellow enthusist.

 

You know there is a recall on some early model B6 fuel pumps right? I think the recall was for 02/03, but I could be wrong. Get your vin# and call a dealer, theyll tell you if its covered under the recall.

 

Isn't the recall on V6 models? I have a V4.

 

I just had my fuel pump changed out by the dealer. Here is what the letter said-

"Safety Recall JL 2003 year Audi A4 quattro with 1.8L Turbo or 3.0L engine and 2003 Model year Audi A6 with 3.0L engine"
The fuel pump on some affected vehicles may contain a carbon brush set that is susceptible to premature wear.

On invoice it says-

JL12 Install fuel delivery unit and sealing washer.
1 8E0-919-133-G Washer
1 8E0-906-087-P Fuel Pump

No charge for unit or install. Just call them up and give the vin number to see if your car is affected.

 

if you think u have a v4, please DO NOT fix this yourself!

but your fuel pump is below the passenger rear seat...

pull rear seat
remove access panel
play with two pain in the *** connectors
steep your hands in gas for an hour trying to figure out how the F the damn thing releases
replace
seal up


its a biatch!! i got the parts wholesale through my company so it only cost me $220 for a pump, gasket and filter... i paid a mechanic $40 to do the filter... i would suggest you do the same, the connectors are very difficult and if you break one, you will then be dropping the tank and ordering new lines from audi..

but if u dont mind playing in gas for about 1.5-2 hours its not crazy hard, just takes some playing around figuring out how the damn things come apart, its all plastic and my tank was full so i was doing it by feel alone... of course 1/4 of that tank was on the ground when i was done [:@]

Check your VIN against the list here just fill in the feilds to get the recall notice. If the dealer tries to bit hand them the printout that will get them to do the work as long as your VIN is in the affected range.
